We moved into Sagebrook in the fall of 06. We had heard so many bad things about this complex, namely the parking, so we asked a ton of questions. But our leasing consultant always had a quick rebuttal to our concerns, making us think that the poor reviews and reputation of Sagebrook is completely unfounded and utterly false. So we went ahead and signed the lease. We wish we would have documented all of their promises and made Baron Properties (mgt. company) sign it! I am writing this to give savvy renters a heads-up on what you can expect from Sagebrook.

The day we signed the lease, we requested a copy for our records. The leasing consultant put us off (which was an omen of things to come). She said we couldn't have one right away, but they would deliver it to us on the second day. Since that didn't happen, we went to the office to pick it
up--but it still wasn't "ready". 3 months later, we finally got our copy of our lease!

When we checked everything out at move-in, our gas fireplace would not work. The second day here, we notified the agents in the leasing office who supposedly coordinate work orders with the maintenance staff. They promised someone would call within 24 hours to schedule a time for the repair. So, we waited and waited, weeks went by and we never heard from them. Then a guy came to assess the problem, but never came back to fix it! The first blizzard hit and we had no working fireplace. After that, we made, yet another request for a work order with the gals at the leasing office. We are happy (sense the sarcasm) to report that two and a half months later it was repaired.

Another thing we were promised was assigned parking, since our side of the complex is "tight" (word of a leasing consultant). "Tight" parking is an total understatement! Not only is the parking a complete nightmare, but they have done absolutely NOTHING about it, as promised in September--and probably to every resident who moves in. Here's just a mere example of what we deal with: we have to haul all of our groceries from across the other side of the complex, through unplowed/unshoveled snow (another issue), and up three ICY flights of stairs, on a weekly basis.

The most recent incident happened this week. We wanted to pay our rent with two forms of payment. We were told it wouldn't be a problem. We were careful to follow their exact instructions. We hand delivered everything to the leasing consultant, on time and before rent was due. Well, this evening as I was locking the door to leave, there was a blaring "Demand for Payment or Possession" notice hanging face-out on our door. We did exactly what they said and covered all bases. We paid on time. We hand-delivered the rent check and credit card receipt. While we are responsible and conscientious tenants, they cleary have problems with communication and professionalism. And the two most irritating details of this incident that prompted us to write a review is 1) that the notice was dated 1/5/07 @ 5:00pm. We were home the entire afternoon/evening! They didn't even knock to hand deliver it. Instead, Laura decided to 2) leave the notice face out for all walking by to read! We have been publicly humiliated over something that was THEIR fault!

Lease a Sagebrook Apartment from Baron Properties AT YOUR OWN RISK. As for us, we can't wait until our lease is up!

Can you tell me what side of the apartment complex has the parking problem. Some people seem to not have a problem and others do.
