Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2007
I lived at these apartments for 2.5 years. During the last 6 months I was there, they were horrible about several maintenance issues (including a pipe leak in the bathroom which soaked the floor for >2 months before finally being fixed). I moved out when my lease ended having told several staff members that I intended to do so. A few months later I found out that they were charging me an extra month's rent and the so-called "discount" that I had been receiving throughout the length of the lease because they said I did not provide the 30 day notice in writing. total charges: >$2000. the employee turnover is so bad that it's impossible to find someone there who was there at the time. calls to the property owners end with options to leave message with people who never return the calls.
side note: these "discounts" have become a common scam in colorado springs (maybe other places too, but I don't know). your lease will say that your rent is, say $900, but you're being given a $150 discount from the "market rate". then, if you have to break the lease for any reason (or if you end up in my situation) you then have to pay the "discount" for each month of the total lease. so, if you have to break a 14-month lease two months early it would cost you the last two months rent ($1800) AND an additional $2100 for the "discount" you received throughout the lease.
