had problems with maintenance and management, but overall satisfied

i lived in a ground level 1 bedroom apartment, which has been surprisingly quiet and is spacious for the move in price. unfortunately i started at $395/month and every time my lease runs out they want to increase rent by 30 to $50/month, and they won't negotiate, even though they rent to new people for $395.
the apartments run along a creek with a trail to palmer park and a nice view of the mountains. neighborhood is modest and quiet.
the main problems i had were getting maintenance problems solved with management. maintenance is friendly but slow to respond and sometimes incompetent, and i think this is mainly due to uncaring management. i called the manager NUMEROUS times about my shower SCALDING me with no response. my neighbor had the same problem, and the only way we got it solved was by calling tv news consumer reports. otherwise they gave us all kinds of excuses, and what it came down to was they didn't want to pay to fix the problem. also my cheap dishwasher has always leaked dispite maintenance's attempt to fix it.
BOTTOM LINE: i'd say rent, but look at all the appliances and plumbing in the apartment very carefully, because if they don't work now it may be months before they do.
