Like every apartment community on earth, Stone Ridge has its issues. Apartment living is not always easy living. You have people living in close proximity, one on top of another. All these big "complexes" nationwide built in the 80s were built as cheaply as possible to accommodate the swelling population. I've lived in apartments for 25 years, in three different states and have never lived in one where you couldn't hear your neighbors. It was simply too expensive for these big complexes to add soundproofing. Where we live now is even worse than Stone Ridge!!

I lived at Stone Ridge, formerly Falcon Pointe, for 3-1/2 years from 2004 to 2008. I was, for the most part, very happy there. I never had any problems, however, I also realize I was very lucky. There are high incidents of vandalism. As pretty as the complex is, unfortunately, it is right across the street from one of the most notoriously gang infested areas in Colorado Springs. I was fortunate enough to never have had my car or home broken into, but many of my neighbors were not so lucky. I never felt unsafe, maybe because I have a 50 pound dog who warns me of strangers and also, at least half the complex is military, so I always felt if I screamed, one of them would come to my aid.

I never had any issues with management, in fact, most of the time they bent over backwards to be accommodating. I did have some issues with disrespectful neighbors, but management took care of it. I was never impressed with maintenance though. None of these complexes hire professional contractors - too expensive so they hire "handy" men who, in all complexes I've lived in, do not do "custom" work. Sometimes it does take awhile to get things done, because they don't have enough "handy" men to cover the complex. When I did have an emergency though, there was immediate response. They are slow to empty the dog bins and replace the dog bags. People in general don't pick up after their pets. Don't know why, it just takes a few seconds. Even though I have a dog, I too was disgusted by all the irresponsible pet owners who refuse to be respectful of others. I pick up after my dog no matter where we are, but once again...this is common in every apartment complex I've lived in. Very difficult to catch the offenders!

Apartments in general are terribly overpriced now. None of them are worth the rent we are all forced to pay. None of these so called "luxury" apartments give you what you pay for. The construction, including the interior - carpet, paint, etc. is cheap, but that is true of most complexes.

Stone Ridge has all the issues that go along with apartment living - noisy neighbors, shoddy construction, break-ins (which happen in even elite areas of town), people who don't pick up after their pets, slow maintenance response, areas closed for repair. It's all pretty standard "apartment" stuff. If apartment living is your only choice, don't expect great things for the price of rent. Not likely to happen anywhere. It's just what apartment living has come to. In general though, I liked living at Stone Ridge, which is why I stayed so long. Now that I've moved, despite the risk of living in that neighborhood, I see now that I really did give up some good things!!
