Right In The Middle

I have resided here for the last 2 years and lived in two different units. Overall, I am satisfied with the place, although there are a few things I won't miss when my lease ends today!
The good:
I love the floor plans and their features, let me tell you, I have seen every other "luxury style" apartment in Colorado Springs and their square footage sure as hell can't beat Sunset Ridge. The included washer/dryer,storage,fireplace,etc are nice because other places in town sometimes only include some of those things in certain units.
I have the most incredible views from my apartment right now. If you decide to live here, get a unit with a view.
I have never had a real problem with management. When I fill out a work order, they get it done. I have like what it sounds with other people rating this place a few problems as well, but for the most part, I was content with them.
The bad:
The problems I have with management. First off, every time I walk in the office, there's a new face. I don't really know WHO works there. The day my roommate and I moved from a 3 bedroom to a 2 bedroom, they messed up the lease agreement and how much our rent would be. It wouldn't have been a problem if the new manager hadn't been starting that day and didn't know what was going on.
In the 2 years I have lived here, I would have loved to use the hottub if it had actually worked. I asked management why I was paying for something that was broken and they promised new parts were coming in for it the next week. That was a lie. It works now, but I'm moving, so that doesn't do me any good.
I will admit like others they say to pick up cig buds and dog crap. I haven't seen anything awful really, but they are not as strict as they sound to residents who do not comply with these rules to keep the place clean. They also tell you you cannot have any obnoxious looking things in your window or on your balcony.. um I've seen boxes, trash, banners, and sheets being used for curtains. Just a little trashy. To go along with that, the people who leave the beat up, smashed cars that don't work constantly parked there... get them out of the parking lot!!!
Noise really isn't THAT bad. I've heard some screaming and kids at times. The walls are thin. I hear people open cabinets, shower, flush the toilet.. I don't really care, because I am sure when I'm on the phone, my neighbors below can probably hear the entire conversation and I don't care.
I live in a great building, but what sucks about it is the DRAFTS. I almost froze to death this winter. The windows suck, they barely lock. That was my major complaint. We had to use shrink wrap stuff to seal the windows this past winter. However, in my old 3 bedroom, this was never a problem. We have a window box, and why putting your cute little house plants there is nice, your kitchen will be cold during the winter.
I had a few lights burn out near the stairs and I had to keep reminding them to fix them. In the past year, I feel like getting a work order completed has been a little more difficult.
My biggest problem and I warn everyone of you that's living there now. They give you a "cleaning list" of things to do before you move. My 2 roommates and I at the time cleaned the hell out of our place. We left it cleaner than how we got it. The carpet was trashed when we moved in. It looked clean, but as we vacuumed, the white powder stuff kept coming up and stains kept appearing. I complained three times about the carpet. We move out assuming we'll get our security deposit back. No, actually our 99 dollar security deposit went to cleaning the carpet!!! I stormed in the place and demanded an explanation. I got an "Oh, that's something that has to be done when you move out" although I was never informed of such a thing. They don't tell you, but they will take your money to do it so BEWARE!
The reason I am content with the place is because I pay a good deal for a beautiful apartment, I haven't had any major conflict with management in general, and the area of town was perfect for me. After residing here for 2 years, I now know what to expect in an apartment complex. I also know for a fact some units in this complex are nicer than others. I viewed a few buildings and some have been kept up better than others, so surely everyone has had to deal with certain problems. I'd recommend the place to someone, as long as they are aware of the downside of the complex as well. gkZ41df9CgXQPfm8K2A7
