Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2005
I have lived at Sunset Ridge for about three years. In that time I've completed a 1 year lease in a 1 br, 2br, and 3br apartment.
Pros: Management was friendly at first and would go out of their way to please their tenants. Apartment complex location is priceless, set on a ridge that overlooks the entire city. The somewhat high prices are justified by the great area, low crime, and nice views. The community and area are great, nice landscaping, and average income in this neighboorhood is higher than average equating to a low crime rate.
Apartments are very nice! I like the balconies, and the washer and dryer in unit is a big plus for me.
Cons: During my three years there I have seen the management change about three times per year. I'm talking everybody from the maintenance personnel, managers, to the leasing agents. You get aquainted with them, and they're gone in no time, only to be replaced with what seems like a shadier crew each time. Well I've had enough, the current management is just ridiculous!
Allowing pets in the apartments is a huge nuisance. There is supposed to be a policy put in place about cleaning up after one's animals, but it is not enforced. This eventually leads to walking through dog crap from somebody who was too irresponsible to clean up after their pet.
There are several apartments in the vicinity of mine with animals who just will not shut up. Very annoying to be waking up on a Saturday or Sunday morning to your neighbor's dogs barking.
Appliances are cheap and aging. With the price and age of these buildings it would seem like they would have spent the few extra dollars for better appliances with more features.
Overall I cannot complain about my experience. During the time I was there I was very satisfied, but that is mostly attributed to the niceness of these apartments and their location. I have not had to deal with management often but I'm fearful of dealing with them upon moving out at the end of this month.
Despite the now-horrible managment, the only other negative aspects were mere annoyances, the types of things you'd find at other apartment homes, and the things that don't ruin the experience. The managment and the high prices (they had changed the pricing structure since my move-in three years ago) is what prompted my move away from Sunset Ridge.
