Gone down hill fast

We have lived in these apartments for 3 years and 3 months now. We're closing on a house at the end of the month and are happy to be leaving.
Since we've been here, the company changed hands. Old company was a decent one, they responded quickly to problems, fixed issues we had within hours of reporting them. Some problems we've had were attempted to be fixed but never fully repaired. One that comes to mind is the water damage by the sliding glass door in our childrens' room. It rains inside and they have never FIXED it, they just patched it up and put silicone caulking over it. Making it look better won't stop mold from growing... They did try but cannot find the PROBLEM that allows water in.
Staff was great, we knew the people by name and they knew us. The new company appeared, at first, to be trying to do a quick flip of the property. They ordered new painting, some minor cosmetic repairs, etc. The maintainence team has changed so many times since then that I have lost track. Management blamed maintainence for not fixing things... management attempted to evict us after we paid on time and offered proof of said payment, we were basically accused of lying even with our bank statement in hand showing that payment clearing.
We have had a caged animal for some time now, that was allowed under the old management and that the company was aware of. Only, I guess the old company didn't make note of this animal and the new company apparently does not allow it. We were basically told to get rid of said animal or we were in violation of our lease agreement. We found a way around eviction, but what a hassle when this animal was never a problem before!
Since the company has changed hands there has only been ONE person in the office that is not a pain to deal with. We try and speak with this person when we need to go down there now, and hope for the sake of the current and future residents that she stays on.
The BIG reason we stayed here is that the price is amazing for the school district. Our daughter loves the neighborhood school, and I hope she loves her new school as much, after our move. The price was a big factor for us for a long time, and really for the area you simply cannot find the same rates elsewhere. So if you are patient and can wait for maintanence to take care of things (or deal when they don't...), take a look. But don't hold your breath. The tune of the company changes once you're locked into a lease.
We really liked it here at first, but with the recent changes, we wouldn't recommend it to people in the market who are wanting a long term place to live.
