Disturbances, Bedbugs, and Parvo, oh my!

From: -Anonymous-

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009

We moved into this community based on the incredible price, the apartment size, the dog-friendly atmosphere and the promise of a family community. When doing the walkthrough, the apartment was incredibly dirty but we were promised that it would look like new when we moved in, including new carpet. The carpet was left as is and the apartment was moderately clean upon arrival.

My two year old started getting red bumps right away and I thought she was allergic to something. It turns out that we had moved into an apartment that was infested with bedbugs. The apartment claimed that they were mine until someone let slip that the people who moved out before us had them. We had them TWICE.

The apartment grounds are very green and nice looking in the summer months when they hire someone to upkeep them, but in the winter there is often trash, food, dog feces and cigarette butts all over the property. Also, an off-leash dog park area is provided for the tenants but someone hit the gate/fence with their car a month ago and management has not hired someone to fix it yet. Also, no one cleans up after their own dogs in that area and maintenance doesn't clean it, so there is literally wall-to-wall feces. Upon closer inspection, I found multiple piles of bloody diarrhea that smelled of parvo virus (I'm a vet tech, I know what it smells like).

The noise on-property is outrageous and management does nothing with complaints. I live across from two men who have been living on unemployment for a year who drink all day and scream profanities regarding being ripped off for drug use. There have also been fights right outside my apartment while I stood there holding my 2 year old.

My rent is listed at 585 but we pay 35 for pet rent and 10 for a closet sized storage unit. Also the utilites run between 70 and 90 a month, regardless of season. We have NEVER turned on the heat and our apartment has never been below 70 degrees, topping out at 85 in the WINTER!!!

It looks like a good deal, but STEER CLEAR!!! When our lease ends, we will NOT be renewing.
