I initially chose 1600 Glenarm for the safety. When I moved to Denver, I knew I wanted to live downtown, but the thought of living alone in an urban area frightened me. I always feel safe here at 1600 Glenarm. The entire staff is always so polite and welcoming. It took some adjusting when I first moved in because I almost felt that I was living in a hotel, but now it just feels like home.
Like another resident commented, I have also come across puke and condoms in the stairwell, not to mention the dog feces in the elevator. However, it seems that these problems are taken care of promptly. The gym is somewhat small and you can tell the equipment is not being adequately maintained.
As far as the noise goes, I can hear the elevator from my apartment as well as my neighbor's door and occasionally some loud music. But overall, it's pretty quiet. I can tell when someone on the floor is smoking. The ventilation in the building is not great, so the smoke seems to sit in the hallway.
With all of that said, I would recommend 1600 Glenarm to prospective residents. The location and amenities cannot be beat. However, I will admit that if my rent increases when it is time to renew my lease, I will explore other rental options in the downtown area.
