Turn for the worse

When I moved into Acacia back in the spring of '05, I couldn't have asked for a better place to live. The building has an awesome sense of character, and the management was phenomenal. I mean, how often do you hear of a resident manager who remembers every resident's birthday, and gives potential residents a full-premesis tour on a Saturday'

However, something happened, and the building was sold in January of '07, and it is no longer a place I would recommend to anyone. The new owners say they would like to improve on the service here, however I don't even know any of their names. There is no manager on the premesis, ever. The building has only been cleaned once in the past three months. The questions and requests I have sent in have been ignored, and they have decided to raise the rent by $85 with just a week's notice.

It's very sad to see a place I once loved fall into the ever-growing pit of pure profit with no service.

I absolutely agree with every word of this review. We moved into the Acacia in the summer of 2004, and loved it - Frank and Sean were dream landlords, and that made every part of the experience fantastic. Since the building was sold, everything has gone downhill, and in the year since this review was written, it's only gotten worse. The maintenence is a joke, there are a number of problem animals in the building (dogs that urinate and defecate on the floor) with no consequence, and there is absolutely nothing resembling personal service. Additionally, they've raised rents *again*, which mean our rent has gone up $160 in less than a year, while our living experience has only worsened. My husband and I are moving out at the end of the month, and we're sorry to leave our first home together, but there is nothing to keep us there any longer.
