The location is the ONLY reason you would want to live here

I have lived here since May of 2008. I chose it because it is very close to my job and they had some great specials going on. I will say that the ONLY reason I have somewhat enjoyed my stay here was because of the location. It is close to 1-225 and I-25, the light rail, and in walking distance of Panera, Baker Street etc. Those are the positives, but the cons out weigh those!
First, I live on a ground level apartment where I can hear EVERYTHING above me. I had neighbors with a toddler and it literally sounded like they were in my house, I was woken out of my sleep many times due to them just talking. All of my neighbors can hear eachother, not because we are loud but because the building are so poorly insulated. My bedroom shares a wall with the stairwell I have had pictures fall off my wall when people walk up the stairs. In the model they dont show you that there is no central air so all you have is a little air conditioner that connects to your living room patio. It is a huge square box that makes setting up furniture bad. Its also above the cable outlet so you will have to have large chords running along your carpet if you dont set it there. The air conditioner doesnt really work on hot summer nights, you can only feel it if you are next to it. The heat took 2 months to kick in this winter. My xcel bill was around $100 bucks for a one bedroom for the first 6 months while I tried to adjust to the horrible insulation and crappy air flow. If you live on a ground floor you back padio is open with no closing, this is not horrible and I have never experienced any theft, but I does cause for some security if you are worried about that. There are only 3 windows in the whole house, the patio, one in the kitchen, and one in the bedroom. Where my apartment was located I had a hard time getting light in my house which sucked. The showers are really small and the water pressure doesnt really exist. Because the apartments are older you can hear the pipes ALL night. Its a tapping noise. I made compalints when I first moved in but the office claimed they would have to tear the wall down to find out what the tapping was and that they couldnt do that. It has also woken me up. I have had friend over who have thought that people were in my house by how loud the tapping and all the other noise was. The gym looks nice at first but then you find that you will nearly have to break your arm off to get the door to open because the key is so hard to turn. Once you are inside the gym you find that most of the equipment is broken. The pool is okay, but it is not heated. It is surrounded by trees which makes it hard in the summer to tan if you are in to that. The pool didnt open until mid June which sucked as well. My apartment does not have a washer and dryer, its located on the second floor which is okay. There are 2 large washers they wash and dry well, they cost $1.50 to wash and $1.75 to dry. It is a hassel sometimes to not have it in my house. There is little closet space or storage space.
The positives like I mentioned is the location. Also parking is not too bad you have an assigned spot. The office although not very good at fixing things, is very helpful and friendly. The apartment has a decent set up, with a brick fire place (thats painted brown), its shaped like a long rectangle so everything is separated which is nice. The kitchen had been remodeled but the cabinents and fixures are cheap. Besides being able to hear my neighbors it is a fairly quiet neighborhood, no crime or not that I have experienced, the neighbors are very friendly. It is a very pet friendly complex which is great if you have animals, however people are bad at picking up after their pets, but the complex does try to follow-up and let residents know that its not okay to do that.
Overall its not horrible but its not great. Check it out and see what you think. If they were not located in DTC I would not reccomend them to anyone.
