I lived at the Belmont Buckingham for over two years. They were the happiest two years of my rental life. Management was AMAZING, professional, albeit a bit strict. I was single and had a gorgeous apartment that reminded me of my time spent living in Europe. I was in LOVE with my apartment: high cielings, rounded living room, large windows, great location, amazing closet space, and living in that building was like stepping back in time. I felt posh, worldly, and special. I'm not just making this up, or trying to make the new management look bad...this is truly how I felt about living there.
I have since, gotten married and had a son. We've been living out on the West Coast and I decided to check out he old website, since we're moving back to Denver. The old website no longer works, I find out management has changed, and I see all these bad reviews. But, I say...'Oh well. I can possibly live with less than ideal management if the apartments are still as gorgeous as I rememver them'. I look up some photos and seeing those photos compelled me to write a review.
THE NEW OWNERS/MANAGEMENT DESTROYED ALL THE CHARM, BEAUTY, AND HISTORICAL DETAILS THAT MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH THOSE APARTMENTS IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!
The gorgeous timeless, tile that was in the kitchens is GONE! The vintage cabinets and beautiful details have been STRIPPED! I couldn't find a photo of the bathrooms, but I am wondering if the claw foot tubs and teensy 40s tile was also destroyed!' It's painful to see the photos of the 'remodeling'. The cabinets look cheap, the light fixtures are tacky and look like they were bought at HOME DEPOT, and I can't believe the guy that used to manage those apartments is gone! While I wasn't a fan of him, because he used to make me turn down the music (I was single and loud)...I was looking forward to taking my young family back there and living there for a few years while we saved up for a house. I won't be doing that now. A once beautiful and precious building has been updated for whatever ungodly reason. The photos look terrible and cheap, not like the sort of place I'd want to rent in.
Oh, and rent is cheaper than when I last checked. $1050 for a 2 bedroom is the same rent as when I was living there 4 1/2 years ago, but lower than the rent that they were charging for the units before the 'remodeling'. I'm thinking that they are affordably priced (for the current market) due to the lack of interest in the 'new and improved' units. There used to be a waiting list to get into those apartments. I guess that the Belmont Buckingham and the memories I have from that place will be gone forever. Pity. If they had restored the units, they could have gone condo. Remodeling them with modern and cheap stuff from a major retailer killed all the value of the once great property. *sigh*

Thank you so much for your detailed and candid review. I was looking for something with vintage charm, and thought this might be the place .... UNTIL I saw the recent reviews! And yours was especially valuable, having had a history with the building. Yes ... what a shame to 'commercialize' this wonderful old building. Guess I'll give up on old town charm and head for the 'burbs....

I have to say that I really love this building. And I loved it from the minute I set foot on the grounds, having spent the better part of two days looking at other options in the surrounding areas. I looked at everything from privately owned apartments to huge high rise buildings. From the overall amenities, floorplans and vintage finishes and features, I really adore this place.
