Relatively cheap and downtown

I moved into this place to get out of the roommate situation. I was actually surprised at the time that I qualified as my income had been meager that year. Fortunately for me, being broke was a good thing! ;-)
The partying was a bit intense when I first moved in, but that seems to be a thing of the past. People still have parties, but at least it's not every night! The maintenance seemed to slack at first, but that also seems to be in hand now.
They cheaped out on the construction. The units do not have concrete between them. I can hear my neighbors from time to time. Also, they have no elevators that are tall enough to safely move a full -sized sofa. Be careful not to break out the overhead lights!
The ads would lead you to believe that you can walk easily downtown and you can but you have to cross Broadway and walk past the rescue mission. I usually walk to Blake street (2 blocks west) and then into town to avoid that mess. Having moved from the Capitol Hill area, I have found the bus situation lacking. From my place in Governor's Park, I could catch several buses into town a block or two away. Late-night I could take a cab for about 6 bux. There is not much point in catching a bus up here and for some reason, a taxi ride costs just as much despite living practically in the city!
I'm sure if I made more money I would move into a nicer place somewhere downtown, but I would need to make a lot more!
