Overall a good place, small quibbles

I moved into Buchtel Park with some trepedation after reading some of the reviews here. It was a good price and conveniently located, though, so my wife and I signed a one year lease. I'm a picky person but I must say that overall, we are pleased. Mostly pluses, but some minuses.

The people living here are mostly younger people, some families. Most of the people here seem pretty harmless, though there are a few shady-looking characters.

Pluses:
--Great price
--Nice rooms -- bathrooms remodeled and looking nice; new carpet; overall quality inside is pretty good.
--Nice staff (although I can't vouch for maintenance response as we haven't had any issues yet -- I suppose that's a good sign)
--Excellent location -- near Denver University; located off I-25, Colorado Blvd.; everything you need in terms of living/shopping is very near. Bus #52 stops literally in front of the complex and it takes you to downtown Denver.
--Neighborhood overall is a nice place.
--My wife and I feel safe here, though as I wrote above there are a few shady characters here and there.
--The grounds look nice and are well kept.
--The people are mostly quiet -- no loud parties at 2 am.
--Parking here is never a problem.

Minuses:
--The walls are thin in my apartment -- much too thin (I can hear my neighbor sneezing and can sometimes make out words while he's talking on the phone); overall I'm lucky b/c I have mostly quiet neighbors, though, but I don't like being at the mercy of fate in terms of who I get stuck with as my neighbor.
--The common areas (around the elevator, etc.) can be quite dirty and unkempt. I guess this speaks more about the renters than it does to the apartment management, but it's still an eyesore. The laundry room is pretty clean, though.
--Sometimes there's trash laying around.

The minuses aren't enough to outweigh the pluses, though. That's why overall I'd recommend living here -- especially if you're a courteous and neighborly type of person.
