I have been living in Cherry Plaza for over 3 years now. It is a place that has cheap rent, and decent living standards if you don't mind roughing it for a little while to save money.
Sometimes they take care of your maintenance needs very quickly, other times it can take months and months of waiting. It seems to depend on who is in charge and what the staff at that particular time is like.
The buildings have been redone to have double ply windows and 'fresh' looking exteriors. However the insides are still kept more or less the same as they have always been. They are slowly renovating apartments as people move out, taking out the carpets (which get nasty after a couple years, I have learned) and putting in wood floors (wish I had some!).
The walls are pretty sound proof, I only ever heard things from below me when someone had their stereo really cranked up high.
However you can hear the sounds of vehicles around you, the most annoying is when people in the apartment complex next store (which is supremely ratty) start honking their car horn constantly when they are waiting for someone to come outside to join them.
The street side door of my building is constantly insecure, either because it won't close at all or because it won't latch when it shuts.
There is always some sort of smell in the air, either from someone in the building cooking, or from someone in the apartment complex across the street cooking.
The fridge is a POS, it will randomly start freezing things regardless of what I have it set to.
The kitchen itself is absolutely tiny, it's big enough for one person to move around in, two people gets it really cramped.
The air conditioner is just enough to keep the place liveable in the summer, but it adds it's own particular smell to the air by doing so.
After living here for three years, I have gotten sick of the place, and am ready to move on. For me the very last straw is to find out through experience that from now on the management will be spraying for bugs every SIX months! You have to cover up EVERYthing and put all your belongings into the middle of the rooms, and completely unmake your bed. It's the world's biggest pain in the ass, and I don't wanna have to deal with it every six months!
I will be moving out at my first opportunity to do so, I am not gonna be around for their June spraying.

THEY HAVE 4 BUILDINGS THE ONE IN WHICH THIS PERSON LIVES IS THE WORST ONE THE ONE INWICH I LIVED WAS PRETTY DECENT NO SMELLS, AND VERY QUIET. EXCEPT THE MANAGEMENT WILL KICK YOU OUT IF YOU HAVE THE SLIGHTEST PROBLEM JUST SO THEY CAN RENOVATE YOUR APARTMENT BECAUSE THEY DONT WANT TO IMPROVE THEM WHLE SOMEONE IS STAYING THERE.
