The Denver House is in a great location close to downtown. You can walk to 16th, the library, and a lot of other things. Logan St can be noisy.

Maintenance is acceptable. Some fixtures are dilapidated; check appliances before you move in. The hot water is not. I love living in my up high apartment -- the view is fantastic. The common areas are passable, but I've seen better. Nwe couches would be appreciated. One or the other of the elevators always seems to be out of service. The pool is well-kept. Sometimes when it rains there is a smell of urine at the front door, perhaps because the manager lets her dog use the bushes under the portico.

The building is secure. Cameras cover the common areas and elevators. Recieving packages is a hassle, but I never complain because I always get a receiving service when living in an apartment.

Management needs improvement. Some of the personal insults found on this page toward Ms. O'Brien are petty (her help dog is NOT fake). And when she wants something done she can be quite efficient. But otherwise there is a serious on-going problem with the bearing she takes toward her tenants. She can be snippy, rude, even insulting. And I think she cares more about whether she is obligated to do something than whether she could make a tenant's life a little nicer. On one occasion, during office hours, I called through to the emergency line and she snapped at me because I had woken her from a nap. Perhaps the owners love her, but then again, I've heard she is family. She is clever and twisty, so don't take her word for anything, at least not for more than a few minutes. And your homework before approaching her about an issue. The weekend staff is indeed a nice change.

Overall the Denver House is an average building. I recommend because the building will be here but maybe the management will change.

How do you know the dog is not fake?? All help dogs I have ever encountered are extremely obedient and listen to every command given by the owner. Also help dogs do not take off to go explore while leaving their "At Risk" owner. The dog often seems to walk Jane more then the other way around. Every time I have seen them out, that dog is like every other typical yellow lab just tugging away at the leash chomping at the bit to get ahead. If it is a help dog then wow, help dogs are expensive and I wouldn't want to spend that money on a dog that's not going to help me. Next time you see the dog go to pet it. The dog becomes very excited and acknowledges your presence and friendliness. HELP DOGS DON'T DO THAT! They are trained to ignore you.
