El Castillo apartments are conveniently located in capitol hill, however, the rent prices are extremely high for what its worth. You do get a lot of space, however the property itself is still living in the 1970s era. The hallway carpets are always smelling, the elevators are out of date on the inside, the stairwells need to be repainted and refurbished. Also the laundry room is bad, there are 24 units in this building and only 4 washers and 4 dryers (if they work). There is a pool which is hardly ever open, and if so a lot of restrictions go along with its opening. The a/c units in the apartments do not cool the entire apartment and/or bedroom area. The kitchen needs to be remodeled. The cabinets are old, dark wood, with a cheap material counter top. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAINT OR HANG ANY PICTURES AT ALL in your apartment. Management ENTERS YOUR APARTMENT whenever they want to or every second Tuesday of the month for BUG SPRAYING. They BUG SPRAY because there are cockroaches and BEDBUG problems especially in the corner units of the 109-209-210-309-310-409-410-509-510. MANAGEMENT or MAX SPARKS is nice at first but really rude. If you need anything fixed it takes about 4 to 5 days before it is done. MAX has and WILL enter your apartment when you are not home WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE to make sure you are following procedures. He also doesn't take care of the problem of the HOMELESS PEOPLE who come off the street and sleep in the lobby time and time again. Max also doesn't exactly do a good job of screening people before they move in as there are a large bunch of DRUGS in the building, a bunch of LOUD parties, and also a SEX OFFENDER lives on the first floor, which MAX SPARKS (THE MANAGER) will not inform you. PARKING is NOT FREE, it cost $45 a month for a spot, or you can fight the other residences of the area for street parking. The manager (MAX SPARKS) also watches you on video surveillance all day every time you enter and exit. The MAIL SERVICE is always delivered at 4-5PM EVERYDAY. THERE WAS A FIRE IN THE BUILDING BACK IN MARCH OF 2008 AND MAX SPARKS (THE MANAGER) DID NOTHING TO INFORM TENANTS OR MAKE SURE EVERYONE WAS OKAY.

THERE IS NO FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM, OR NO FIRE ALARM SYSTEM IN THE BUILDING.

Max Sparks "the manager" is an old man, who is on a lot of Rx Drugs. There is a major drug problem in this buidling. Apt #303 has a crystal meth lab and has been arrested for coke use before. People will be passed out in the hallway over in this section. Apt #309 has a sex addict living in it who peers at others through the window. Max Sparks Apt #510 has all the Rx drugs dealt from his apartment as well

BE CAREFUL BEFORE YOU SIGN A LEASE
I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!

I'm Josh Tamaska. I live in apt #304 and have gotten Rx's from the manager. I also have syphilis and a revolving door! another great thing about this apartment building!

OMG! Somebody peers at you through a window? Shock. I think some of these reviewers would be happier back at The Breakers. I'd much rather live in a building with pot heads & pill poppers than the usual wife-beating alcoholics. Not that I'm in a hurry to move into the Castillo, sounds like a rough, dingy place, but it's funny how people fuss about things that don't really affect them. A meth lab? Yeah, that's a problem, cops should come in & handle that - I hope you (reviewer) did your part and called it in, otherwise you can't complain. People getting high in their apts - doesn't bug me much, keeps 'em quiet. I just moved out of a bldg full of drunks, and would pick stoners anyday compared to those bums. Just my .02

I am a newer tenent but I have had nothing but good dealing with the manager and he sweetly dealt with a stalker, bigot, racist, homophobic manager from my old apartment that is 10 x worse than I imagine this new manager could EVER be, based on my dealings with him. This area has drug abusers in most places in this area and that is something to work on.Max was VERY strict with my background check, making sure I was an appropriate tenent for OTHER tenents to be around and was upfront that some people had not liked him and spoken this way about him. The halls now are claen and EVERYTHING in my apartment is new! They installed nice tile ,a new microwave, beautiful ceiling fan,the doors are nice and newly stained and the closet space is imense! It is a nice unit and I just came from a large highrise. The neighbors I have met seem pleasnt, friendly,SOBER.Ya, they said Max IS strict but fair! I am glad he has pool rules(all do) to keep it clean. Max helped me a lot and many managers would not have dealt with my old crazy manager calling and bugging him but he was gracious and understanding. If there are bedbugs, i am sure he will deal with them. This area has a bedbug infestation.Every 3-4th bulding has them and it is getting worse! Capitol Hill and Denver county are trying to deal with it. ya, it freaks me out but now,in apartment living, you must deal with it. That might be your opinion of him but I am glad to be here and find him a helpful and nice guy.So what? He is disabled. So am I! That hardly makes me a dealer of my Meds! Why hold that against him? That is hardly fair!
