Unprofessional

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008

I use to be a resident at the estates at mira vista, November 30th, 2008 was our last day. The staff is very unprofessional. I moved in to the estates because it seemed like a nice place. Now I know we were completely wrong. When we signed the least the manager kept trying to push us into signing the least without explaining it very well. When we had questions for her she was not too happy about. Then she tried pushing us into the signing the form where it says that everything in that apartment is in good condition. The issues that there were they never came to look at. I asked her if they could pressure wash the back patio because it was gross. She said they would, they never did that either. I especially like this residence because of their media room. I had the room reserved for a certain date before I signed the least. When the date came to using it they took my two hundred dollar deposit. When i tried to get in the room i wasn't able to. It was after hours so i called answering service they said the sreen in the media room was not working and no one had said anything when they gave me the keys. The following day i got a call apologizing from another person (very nice lady) that said she couldn't believe they hadn't told me anything. When i went to pick up my check the same person that gave me the keys, gave me the check back and she said not one word. Also, finding parking is very difficult, at night its impossible. You are suppose to have a parking permit, cause its a gated community, but not everyone did, but then again the gate was opened more than closed. The day of our moving we had to stay an extra day because we were trying to leave the apartment clean, which was fine, it was our choice. We were going to finish that extra day we had to pay for and we temporiraly parked our car in the fire lane, because there was NO PARKING anywhere. We left it there for about half an hour, and when we went to put our stuff in the car it was no longer there. It had been towed. So we were stuck in the apartment that night, we only had a few boxes left in the apartment and nothing else. We had to sleep on the carpet with no blankets, and with our work clothes. The next morning when we went to talk to the office, they immediately said it was not their fault. They said a resident had called it in and it wasn't their fault. When I asked them about the night security, they said they don't work with them at night, even tough; it is the security that answers all complaints at night for the estates. They did not worry about apologizing, did not show sympathy, they just worried about making sure they said it wasn't their fault. So now we had to pay another additional day, and pay approx. $160 in cash to get our car out. Since we did not have another car. We rented a U-Haul not only to get the rest of our stuff out, but to go get the car out because we had no one to take us. So now we had plenty of additional fees: the car, the additional extra day, the u-haul and both my husband and i had to miss half day at work because of it. So we decided we were going to call corporate on them. When we asked them for the corporate number the person from the office said "they're just going to tell you the same thing", and that is when we told her to give us the number and we needed to hear it from them. Once we file the complaint with corporate, we will file with the BBB, and if possible with consumer affairs. They are a bad management company, would NEVER in million years recommend this place to anyone. Not even my worse enemy. We would not have minded paying the high rent, but this place is definitely not worth it. I am glad we only signed a six month least and by the time it was over, we were completely glad.
