After months of searching for an apartment that would take me and my large dog, I came across Garfield Park. It is a work in progress but the improvements are great! My friends and family love the building and my apartment. Despite what some of the other disgruntled tenants said in their reviews, it is very clean and quiet. And to Anonymous on 7/29/07, you re not supposed to have your door open unless you are stealing AC from the hallway which is your own fault if you re that cheap! The new management has put a lot of time and money into this place and it shows, it is 50 times better than what it used to be. I have contacted the resident manager on numerous occasions and never had a problem with attitude, actually they have been concerned and addressed my issues quickly. As for dogs being noisy, I have yet to hear any barking or crying through the night and I have been living here for quite a few months. The pet owners in the building or courteous and control their pets. The people are friendly and the neighborhood is great.

Ha!! That cheap? When I lived there if you didn't "steal AC" from the hallway, you were sweating. We left our door open all the time because it was freaking hot in there. I never had a problem with noisy dogs... Don't know what that's about. But the improvements are not great. They used to have a pool and instead of fixing it, they just put a picnic table out there. So now it is a walled in area with nothing in it that I never once saw people using. Also all the workout equipment sucked majorly. That place blows. Don't rent there. My roommate and I couldn't wait to get out.

For some odd reason this review sounds like it just fell out of the Resident Manger???s mouth. It seams a little biased, may it???s just me. Maybe the reviewer is deaf. This would be the only reason why they would not hear barking dogs or noisy neighbors.

This review has got to be fake. I also lived there pre-current owner and saw all the "improvements". Which included: painting the hallways a different color and putting in tile, which made the halls ten times louder. Whoopdedoo. I once put in a work order 7 different times to get my thermostat fixed...it was summer and my heaters wouldn't turn off even after I attempted to manually shut them off myself by removing the front plate and flipping the switch (the apartment was over 110 degrees for 2 weeks straight because of this, totally endangering the lives of my pets). It took them 3 months to fix closet doors that were so damaged (before I moved in) that they would randomly swing open. I never got my ceiling fan fixed after asking for them to do so for close to two years. While they were so concerned with fixing up vacant apartments for potential renters, they completely neglected those that lived there and their concerns/needs. They will (and do) screw you as hard as possible, in every way possible. And even if this post isn't fake, this person will be singing a different tune once she gets her inflated utilities bill and move-out charges!
