Heritage Creek Apartments
< | >
Having recently finished my year-long lease at Heritage Creek, I feel compelled to warn those who might be considering moving here. In short, I suggest that anyone looking for an apartment in Denver look elsewhere; these apartments are poorly located, badly built, and hideously overpriced. First, the location of these apartments is horrible. The management is quick to point out that the apartments are located within minutes from upscale Cherry Creek. What they fail to mention, however, is that Heritage Creek is located in one of the worst areas of Denver, a veritable den of iniquity. The apartments are within one or two blocks of several strip clubs and "adult" shops. I felt increasingly embarrassed and uncomfortable to be living in this area and I am not an easily-offended, puritanical person; I am just someone who wants to live in a decent and safe area. Second, the apartments themselves are pseudo-luxurious and made of cheap material (linoleum everywhere). My apartment in particular was crawling with insects (spiders, ants) despite the best efforts of the exterminator. Plus, my hot water kept going out throughout the winter due to a defect in the building, forcing me to call a maintenance worker each time and wait for him to come over and (temporarily) correct the situation. I was not compensated in any way for this inconvenience. Finally, a few months ago, there was an actual HOMICIDE at Heritage Creek. The management notified the residents of the incident and mentioned that police would be at the scene conducting their investigation. This truly scared me and reaffirmed my feelings concerning the safety of the area. To everyone looking for an apartment in Denver: there are plenty of places in this city that are better located, more reasonably priced, and nicer than the apartments at Heritage Creek. I urge you all to look elsewhere.

Well, as for the "strip clubs" you mentioned, there's nothing going on there and the police is up and down all of the time, and we haven't noticed nor heard of any incidents. As for the water heater, each unit has their own unit, hence, each tenant needs to be aware of how to monitor their own A/C, Heat, Hot water...so I don't understand the "building" issue. As for the location, it's minutes from downtown, blocks from all commerce (but without the noise and traffic), and centrally located to just about everything. The staff thus far has been very helpful and understanding and responsive to the few simple requests that we have made...and yes, everyone has the right to sleep, including maintenance. We've lived here now for 6 months and love so far.

"and yes, everyone has the right to sleep, including maintenance" Then why have emergency 24 hour maintenance at all? A landlord is responsible for the maintenance in the apartment.
