Great Staff, Bad Place to Live, Mad Management

My wife and I moved in after the nice leasing staff showed us a luxury apartment and described it as a very quit charming fun community for your adults. They also mentioned the 6 inch concrete between units so it would be very quiet.
We were not allowed to see our particular unit until move in day and sadly the luxury apartment is not very nice at all. We asked about breaking our lease and they have thousands of dollars in fines build into the lease, so its impossible to break it.
Many of the neighbors are college kids who have loud keg parties into the night all the time. There are MTV Spring Break style parties at the pool almost every day all summer including Wet T-Shirt contests, so I don t feel comfortable letting my kids go to the pool anymore.
The water heater, furnace/A/C and faucets go out all the time. Rather than replacing things, maintenance just jury rigs it to get it to work for a short time, but it just breaks again.
There is obviously no concrete between the units as we can hear everything in other units, even conversations. We talked to our upstairs neighbors who also hate it here and they say they try to walk very softly, but it still sounds like giants jumping around upstairs. There is probably nothing between the floor and ceiling.
Recently the heat went out in our entire building and someone called public service and the management sent out a letter accusing them of messing with the gas lines when they should have let the apartment fix it. If they called public service, obviously the apartment wasn t fixing it. I have had my own issues with eth after hours maintenance not showing up my self.
The form office staff is very nice and really tries to help, but the management and facilities are just horrible and as nice as they are, it doesn t make up for how bad a place it is to live.
Please spare yourself and don t sign a lease.

As for the "Wet-T shirt contest" we haven't seen nor heard of any, and we were at the pool many times a week this summer. Yes, it is true that the floors appear to not be concrete, but one sometimes must understand (and we come from NYC!) that there are people living around you. If total quite is what you're looking for, consider buying a home, otherwise, be reasonable about living in a share space. As for the water heater going out all of the time, each unit has their own water heater, A/C unit and Heat/Ventilation unit, hence, I don't undertand the building issue again? People! Be aware of your surroundings and how things work.
And, as for not seeing the apartment before you moved in, that's your fault. Who buys a car without looking at it and test driving it first? When we went to rent, if the unit wasn't available, we wouldn't rent it, and if another same unit was available, then we considered it, but let them know that if it wasn't to our satisfaction upon move-in day, we were not signing the lease, and so it was, everything was how we expected it, and the few things that needed adjustment, they took care of within 24/48 hours...which coming from NYC, that's more than reasonable, don't you think?
So, let's be fair, speak up to management about your concerns, as we have about a couple of minor things, and, guess what, they actually addressed each concerned more than adequately!

As you can see our review was in we lived there in March/2007-March/2008, it doesn't mean the same thing happened in Summer 2009. I too am from NY, and I have never lived in such loud apartments in NYC. Street noise is one thing, bur hearing the neighbors talk at a whisper is another. Again, its just poor construction. The heat went out to the entire building because the gas regulator broke to the entire building, and it took them 2 days to fix. And yes, our unit had its own water heater, and it kept breaking, and after asking repeatedly for it to be replaced, the would jury rig it to get it to work for another few weeks. Also, someone was living in our apartment before we moved in, which was why we could not see it. When you are moving cross country, and arriving on your move in day, its hard to have the luxury to do what you are describing. We flew out and looked at about 6 apartment complexes, and none were able to show us the exact unit that would be available when we moved in, but none would give us a lease unless we signed one in advance. There are not as many apartments as NY, where you can just go in, look at a unit, and take it. The economy was much better when we rented, and there were wait-lists everywhere in Denver.
Yes we spoke up to management repeatedly, and obviously have since moved out, as have many of our neighbors due to us all having the same problems.
I don't understand why you would post and insulting response to my valid complaints, as you are not constructive at all. If you love the place, write a good review, don't go insulting people who have had valid problems.
