I live here now, although I won't be renewing my lease in the Fall. The staff is pretty cheerful, and the same people seem to be in there when I go in to pick up packages, so staff turnover must be low.

When I first moved in I was disappointed with the cleanliness of my apt, crumbs and old shelf liner paper in cabinets, dirt in the tub and a few dead flies on the windowsills. I complained when I turned in the apt inventory, and the manager personally called me back to apologize. She said she herself had handled the cleaning of the apt before she went on vacation, and I said that apparently it didn't hold up to the viewings and people walking through it before I rented it. She apologized, and the next day they vacuumed my front hall carpet (only the entry way by the door though, weird) and I had a $50 gift card to Target and a handwritten note in my mailbox, so that was really nice.

They lost my apartment inventory though, and told me that they only just found it a couple of months later. I shudder to think what they would have thought to charge me for if that wasn't found. I also had no clue of how to get into the (tiny!) workout room or pool area for awhile there, because they neglected to give me those keys.

One thing I was NOT so pleased with was that a couple of months after I moved in, my brother and his wife came to visit from back East, and stayed in my spare room. Apparently maintenance 'spys' because I received a call from the office where the office girl tried to subtly say that they had noticed "a lot of people" coming and going from the apartment. I guess it is a good thing that they keep an eye out for strange behavior in the complex, but HELLO, they're called out of town visitors!

The next thing I knew Mgt was trying to charge me $75 for 'dog waste removal' and I don't even have a dog! I refused to pay for that and demanded to talk to the manager. We split the difference and I managed to talk her down to $35 since it turns out my brother had brought over his friend's dog, and Mgt said dogs can't be on the grounds at all. Note: Around that same time, I did see other 'secret' dogs about, and shortly thereafter the whole community had flyers clipped to their doors saying no dogs on the premises, not even to visit.

Oh, fyi the carports are useless. Try looking at the carports of Deerfield, a sister-complex right down the street. If I am going to pay $30-$50 bucks a month extra (price depends on when you go in to get one, or maybe on the staff's whim) the dang thing better have a front panel, not just a lid on stilts! Snow just blows right in, which is probably why only 2 of the carport spaces in front of my bldg were rented this winter, and one of those was by a boat that just sits there all the time under a tarp!

Aside from the 'spying' of the maintenence people, I will say that they have been good about fixing anything that goes broken. My Carbon Monoxide detector started shrieking one Sunday night, and the head maintenance guy was over in 20 minutes, and they stayed for a couple hours, measuring levels and cleaning vents until it was fixed.

So I guess the annoying things have balanced out with current management trying very hard to make amends. I still won't renew because I didn't know anything about location when I moved out here, plus, I'm waiting to see how much my sweet deal is going to go through the roof to renew when my lease term is up...
