Don't Do It

Location is the only reason why one should move here. DU students are close to the school. That is the only positive thing I can say.

Within a few months of moving in, my apt was broken into. All my landlord did was put some tape on the window while I was forced to wait for a glass company to "specially" fabricate a piece of glass to fit the window. My window was not repaired for over a week.

The manager, Don, said he would look into putting bars on my window but he never did. He didn't even respond to my emails asking him if he was going to follow through with his promise. So eventually, I gave up on him and got the bars put on myself.

Then in January, a girl died from CO poisining and another almost did because of negligent installation of a cap on the flu for the boilers. An HVAC company probably should have done the work.

Rather than being evacuated, Don, w/out knocking, walked into my apartment and said, "There's been a leak, but you should be safe down here." I had no idea what was going on until a fireman came into my apt wearing a gas mask and asked me if I was feeling okay and then went though my apt w/ a CO detector.

The apartment complex also never installed CO detectors. I did it on my own. In his email to me, he said that while "it was prudent of me to install CO detectors, he was not required to by law."

I also live across from a noisy construction site. And when that one is completed it looks like there will be another one right down the street.

After all of my complaints, I sought to move out of this death trap but the management will not let me out of my lease w/out accelerating lease payments and eventually recrediting me if and when they find a renter. He will not make a reasonable effort to negotiate but will rely on every single lease term to get every dollar he can, even in the wake of tragedy.

Do not move in here. You can find nicer larger places that are still convenient to DU in the neighborhoods surrounding the school or Wash Park area. Moving here was a huge mistake. 6TrHFn6pn7poyqNlKEgn
