Is Anyone pleased with this place-just ONE, Anybody' Let's see your review!
Most of my neighbors are respectable, but it's the ones who are trashy, disrespectful who make it gross. Rent is low, and there's no budget for adequate staff to clean up after the residents. They leave garbage on sidewalks, passageways, common grounds, parking lots, balconies, and even the roof above doorways. We have plenty of dumpsters that are very conveniently located and emptied often - use them! If everyone would show some respect, things would be much better, and management might be less irritable. I've picked up at least a large coffee can full of large nails, screws, glass in the parking lot, sidewalk & stairs. I've replace 2 tires that had screws and have picked glass out of the treads several times - can't afford that, so I park in front now.
The grounds are attractive, but fountains are often broken. The east lake has needed repair & clean up from the flooding for at least a year. In defense of the child drownings, as terrible as it is, every new tenant is fully informed of the risk of living with these water features and wildlife. Renters sign a waiver saying we understand the risks and accept responsibility for our families, children & pets with the open water areas. As horrible as the losses are, the same risk applies anywhere there are lakes. I'm not being insensitive, but I understand the loss of a child and that it's not management's fault. The water features are beautiful and cost a lot to maintain!
Secure entry doors often don't work. The owners need to provide industrial locks - cheap house doorknobs don't work on steel gates. We need a few security cameras to reduce vandalism. My entry door closer is often broken off by residents. Mailboxes get broken into frequently. The problem slowed down after the Denver Gang Squad arrested several kids who live here. The office stopped doing criminal background checks to save money. How safe is that for the rest of us'!
Office employees change every couple of months. Maintenance is slow to respond, and don't believe me when I describe a problem. There is no follow up on requests or service. You have to call frequently to make sure the order is still in the system. The maintenance manager told me that my requests had been deleted on Fridays to clear out the system! I had to re-submit several requests. It took over 2 months and 6 calls to get a simple door sweep to cover the 1/2" gap under my front door. They I didn't understand what I was talking about. Please! I have 26 yrs experience in construction & property management-I know what I'm talking about.
There was a severe sewage smell in my apartment (Bldg E) the first 3 months. They re-cleaned the carpet, then politely told me that nobody else smells it, and I must be extra-sensitive. I left the windows open day & night (winter) to manage the odor. Several weeks later, raw sewage had backed up & filled the large crawl space under the building & leaked out at the foundation. A major clean up was done & the odor stopped. It was not my imagination!
Tenants don't stay long - lots of empty units. Buildings are sturdy, interiors are very dated. Cabinets are cheap, old & worn, too small, and very smelly. Interiors are always too warm, due to large boilers in the buildings. Water, sewer & gas bills are averaged for the whole building, not based on your actual use. There's no point in keeping the thermostat low to save money - won't help, so you may as well be comfortable.
Electric is metered for each apt. A/C units (small wall-shakers) are very old and expensive to run. No air flow to the bedrooms, so I use floor fans year-round. My AC unit will not cool when outdoor temp is lower than indoors. Indoors stays about 78-80. The thermostat won't read the inside air temp. Opening windows doesn't help. I'm uncomfortable most of the time & try to conserve, but the elect. bills are higher than in my 1300 sf 50yr-old Florida home.
AT&T cellular service drops every call indoors-Boosters won't help here. We have to go outside to talk. AT&T service is poor in this whole neighborhood.
Renter Beware. Drive all the way around the property and walk through entryways, laundry rooms, elevators before you decide. Notice the debris everywhere. Look at the vehicles in parking lots - notice how many cars have flat tires, unregistered, full of junk. Notice how many balconies have junk & trash (violates the lease), walk the grounds and pay close attention. Some buildings have poor access to first floor apartments. Sure wish I had done that.
Have you read enough' I have only been here 8 months & would love to leave early, if I knew how without damaging my credit or getting black-marked for future landlord references. Penalty fees for breaking your lease are unreasonably high.
If you're comfortable with such conditions, or it's a step up for you, then God Bless Ya. Next time, I'll pay closer attention to the reviews. qmzu4EHcaGAPVCPw2Fai
