Mezzo Apartments formerly Sherman Tower

The management was rude from the very beginning. I almost didn't sign the lease. They acted very suspicious of me as if I were some criminal. The apartment I moved into was supposed to have a smoke detector. I told them about it and they still haven't installed one, and I'm almost at the end of my lease. The bathroom leaves much to be desired. The tile has brown caulking in between that I'm sure comes from dead skin and all sorts of grime. For crying out loud, ever heard of bleach or new caulking' The sink doesn't have a disposal and is completely too shallow. The stove is like something you'd have for a five year old it's so small. The utilities bill is extremely high for such a small place, completely outrageous. It is as if they don't tailor it to the size of the apartment. The so-called storage barely has any space at all in some units. It's taken up by pipes and beams. The hallways look very shabby and dirty. The toilet also often has problems that they keep "fixing" and yet they keep coming back. The doors are barely held in place with one lock and don't close properly unless they ARE locked.

I agree with almost everything here. Except not so harsh. I do like my apartment. I think for an old buildig they've done a pretty good job of keeping it up. Also, and perhaps pretty important for me, this place is farely quiet. The walls are made of concrete. Plus I like the fact that you can paint the walls any color you like. With that said, the comment about the rudeness of the staff, the exhorbitantly high utitlity bills, and the often unkempt halls is all true!! My God! 90 dollars a month for a one bedroom 659 square foot apartment??? Trust me, the staff will not tell you the truth. Almost equally anoying is the plumbing system. I have had to go several (four or five) weekends within a single year, without being able to use the kitchen sink. It is constantly backing up. The bathroom sink is constantly clogged and as for the toilet, I've given up on that. I think most people just put up with it because they feel they have no choice or perhaps it's better than most of the other crap on Capital Hill. After all, not all of us can afford the Golden egg Triangle! |
