I recently just left this apartment complex due to all the trouble I went through for the 5 months I lived there. The first night I moved in which was in the middle of the summer, I got there and had no air conditioning or hot water. I had also complained about my sinks not draining. The next morning I went to tell management and they did absolutely nothing about my sinks and didn't do much for my hot water either. My water simply went from cold to warm, it never got hot. I also had major problems with my neighbors cigarette smoke coming through to my apartment. Me, being a non-smoker and highly bothered by the smell of cigarette smoke, came home to my apartment smelling like someone had been smoking in it all day. My master bath also smelled like someone was smoking in it and often smelled like stale cigarettes as well. So after dealing with this for a couple weeks, I went down and told someone from management about it. The lady working told me she'd put a work order in for maintenance, and see what she could do about it. Later, I found out she didn't even make a note of it at all. A week later I went to a different person in management to try to resolve the cigarette smoke in my apartment. She ended up giving me one option for it, which was for them to order orange air fresheners for my vents to help eliminate the smell and mix it with a strong orange smell instead. Which I still didn't want but I had no choice at the time. They had told me this would only be a few days until they recieved them, which turned into over a week and a half and i still hadn't seen them. I had been sick of the smell in my apartment and went to complain about it again. I told the lady working in management that I was so sick of it also explaining that I would get migranes from the strong smell in my apartment that I had been forced to smell everyday when I don't even smoke! I had been looking on the internet for another apartment complex nearby that was completely smoke-free and found one for not much more a month. I told them this after they said over and over to me there was no such thing and that all apartments did not have a rule against it! I had read alot about this and was hoping that I could just get out of the lease at Ponderosa since this was such a big problem for them and it was affecting my health as well. The lady told me the only other thing I could do from there was move to a different apartment which was two floors below. This time she promised me that it wouldn't smell like smoke. I had 2 days to move all of my stuff out and into the new apartment. As soon as I moved into my new apartment, my dryer was broken and making a very loud noise and my sinks wouldn't drain. Both of these problems were never fixed and were still a problem when I moved out. Also after about a week in the new apartment I started smelling smoke in my bedroom, closet, and bathroom again! When I ended up moving out for good, all my clothes smelled like an ashtray, along with my comforter and sheets on my bed. I had problems with neighbors playing the bass of their music so loud it shook my apartment and I ended up calling the police twice, and they still never stopped. I also had problems with my new neighbor across the hall that would think it was ok to come knock on my door if he saw dog poop outside. Since this apartment complex is dog friendly there was plenty of other large dogs I would see outside other than mine that lived there. But instead he only knocked on mine since I was right across the hall. One day I was home he decided to knock on my door every hour all day! He even thought it was ok to go outside of my bedroom window and scream in it at 10pm! I thought this was insane! He would also harrass my boyfriend everytime he walked out the door about the dogs peeing in the yard, even though they were allowed to go pee there just like every other dog that lived in the complex! The worst thing about this is that he was supposively a part of Ponderosa's maintenance! So I got tired of every problem this complex had given me and decided to leave and move back to Maryland. I still had to pay rent for the month after I moved out even though I wasn't living there and also got charged every dollar back of my student discount. I would not recommend Ponderosa Villa's to anyone! The management is terrible!
