I moved into my 1 bedroom apartment a year ago and was pleasantly surprised to find a reasonably priced renovated apartment that looked really nice. Upon closer inspection you'll quickly notice that everything is just a cover-up, crappy construction, paper thin walls, the paint is poorly done, the screen door barely moves, things fall apart constantly. Besides that, everything seemed just fine for a while...then summer came. I picked the location of my apartment because the leasing agent told me this location was sunny and quiet. I soon found it was just the opposite! KIDS SCREAMING ALL THE TIME, running around with no supervision, an adult anywhere to be seen, swimming in the pool alone and throwing chairs and tables into the pool. I don't mind kids having fun, but they are OUT OF CONTROL and their parents could care less. Their shrieks echo through the entire complex at all times, can't even enjoy the summer with your windows open. I soon realized that the caliber of most of the people that live around here is very low, at best. I'm constantly having to complain about neighbors loud music and even call the police occasionally since management won't do anything. The family living below me wasa group of loud, abusive, and honestly scary alcoholics. I woke up every morning to a woman screaming at the top of her lungs, the sound of things being thrown and broken, doors slamming etc...I felt like I was living in the ghetto of new york city. The one good thing I have to say is management did eventually evict them, but it took a while. The biggest complaint I have is that my refrigerator broke multiple times in a short period of time in summer. I called the office to set up a maintenance request and SPECIFICALLY stated for them to come the next day when I would be home. So I get home from work and what do you know...and note saying that maintenance had been here, defrosted my freezer (ruining all of my food), and the fridge should be fixed. On top of it, they had left a huge, hunting-style knife right on top of my fridge with the blade wide open. The only reason i even noticed was because I pulled some papers off the top of it and the knife fell to the ground just missing my foot my millimeters. I called and complained, all I got was a hardly sincere apology. That wasn't good enough for me so I wrote a letter to the managers (which are near impossible to get ahold of by the way). They gave me a $100 gift card to Safeway and another apology which I was surprised by, but satisfied for the time being. The other night I was awakened at 5 a.m by handgun fire in the parking lot. When I called the office, they were dismissive as usual and told me that I was wrong and that it wasn't gunshots. Basically, I was a liar. I then took it upon myself and did some investigating only to find about 5 handgun shells in the parking lot right outside my building. I took them to the office and they refused to admit that there could be a connection and basically insinuated that I was lying or somehow found those shells somewhere else. Not to mention the numerous car thefts from the parking lot and notices on our doors basically saying that it's OUR fault for not locking them or leaving things inside that is too enticing...management takes no responsibility for anything that happens on their property. To top it all off, this morning I came out of the shower in a towel only to find my apartment door opening and a maintenance man letting himself right in!!!!!!! I couldn't believe that this happened again! He said I should have gotten a notice (which I NEVER did) so apparently that just gives them the right to walk into my home at any time they please. Once again I called the office to speak with the same fake, snotty leasing agent that actually had the audacity to laugh about it. The manager called and apologized but still gave me the same BS as usual. I reluctantly renewed my lease for another 6 months as I am trying to save to buy a house, I REALLY wish I hadn't and I am counting down the days until my lease is up again. I'm sure they will find a way to screw me once i move out since by now they already probably hate me and are sick of fielding my complaints and calls. The water bill is $45 per month for a single person in a 1 bedroom which is also ridiculous in my book. When it all comes down to it, it's NOT a safe place to be, guns, thefts, shady tenants, and a staff that thinks it's ok to enter your home at any time and takes no responsibility for their mistakes. Not worth the reasonable rent. Also, the workout facility is average, really not that great and is only open 8 a.m. til 10 pm which really limits your workout time. Don't plan on exercising before work in the morning. The pools are pretty crappy and loud and obnoxious. Nice that it's pet friendly, but none of the lazy tenants even pick up after their animals despite the potty bags the apartment offers. It's a joke and I'm embarrassed to even live here.
