I only rented in two different apartment complexes over the past two years and I definitely took a step down. (I moved from my last apartment because the neighbor downstairs was always smoking pot in the stairwell and I hated walking through his second-hand smoke all the time and the neighbor next to me was always beating on the wife...sheesh) Since I leave around 6:00 a.m. I am usually walking through the snow as snow clean up was just commencing. I like the large patio but hate that we're not allowed to bar-b-cue even with a gas grill. Also, having the patio doors makes it difficult to heat the living room in the winter. We've even had ice form inside the windows. Neighbors are good now but we sure had to complain a lot before anything was done. I'm glad they weren't evicted, they are basically decent people. However, the paper thin walls don't allow for having much fun in your own apartment lest you disturb the neighbors. I like the convenience of Costco, Target, Safeway and the bank. I can usually walk to where I want to go and I like that. Unfortunately, the pros of living here are heavily outweighed by the cons even to the point of seriously considering breaking the lease. Once the heater didn't kick on and I called for maintenance. The next week it was nice and warm but no one came to check the heater. No one came until we complained again because it had been cold all day. Except for the pot-smoking neighbor, the wife beater and the bed bug infestation, I soooo miss my old apartment.
