Not bad

I have lived here for almost two years and, overall, I have been happy with the apartments. I am biased because I was extremely happy with how Post oversaw the property and the people who worked for them and I have been less than impressed with Equity since they assumed ownership last Aug. Anyway, let me start with what I like about Uptown.
I love the people and the feeling of community at Uptown. I own a dog and I must say that the dog owners here (and there are lots of us) are a social and friendly group. I also like that there are 5 courtyards where we are able to take our dogs and let them socialize off-leash (this is technically not allowed, but most people don't mind and the staff doesn't seem to either). The courtyards are also secure and I have had very few problems with these gates not working or being blocked open. There's a rooftop terrace that is nice, clean and has amazing city and mtn views. I live in the smallest studio avail. here (490 sq. ft.) and it is small, but doable and well organized. I don't feel cramped at all! I also love the "neighborhood". Our dogs are allowed at the coffee and wine shops, the flower shop is cute and all of the shop keepers are so nice! Now for the not-so-nice features.
The office staff is one of the worst I have seen. They are rude and I almost always feel like I am putting them out when I need something. Problems aren't addressed very quickly and I have had to inform them of neighborhood safety issues rather than the other way around. They don't seem to take care of the property like post did, but it's not horrible. I hate the laundry facilities! They are small and something is always broken! When I've called to inform them, they say that they subcontract that service out so there is nothing they can do-- that's --------! They also don't offer hookups in all apartments. My biggest pet pieve of this place is the noise in the courtyard. I live near the pool (big mistake) and every night in the summer it is loud with partiers and then again, after the bars close, there are more partiers at the pool. On weekends the noise is nonstop with only a short break from about 3-8am. The people get drunk and make messes in our hallways and it takes a few days to get the office to clean it up which is unacceptable-- I don't live in a frat house! Last year there were also firealarms at least weekly at all hours of the night. They are so loud and obnoxious that you can't even be in the building without holding your ears. They seem to have taken care of this issue, but only time will tell.
Well, that's it. I hope that my review helped you make a decision.
