Run away from Carmel management and its associates!

Run away quickly! I knew I was going to regret renting from them when they started adding all these additional fees, then sat on my first check for an excessive amount of time. Additional fees include pet rent, a $100 "administrative fee" for processing our application and of course we share water and heating bills with the rest of the building which fluxuates throughout the year.
Maintenance is singularly uninterested in resolving problems; it took three complaints and the escape of my cat before they'd finally secure the window screens so they wouldn't blow out in a mild wind. The air conditioning units are all on their last legs; you have to hold your hand against the grill in order to feel any cool air. In the winter you have to turn your heat on full bore to keep from freezing, as the temperature gauge always reports at least ten degrees hotter than it really is. The front security door is frequently broken so it can be pulled open without a key, and it's anybody's guess if the lights are going to come on before it gets too dark to see.
The bed bug problem is ongoing. You effectively have to move out of the apartment once every two to three months while they spray for cockroaches -- just frequently enough to let them develop resistence to the pesticides.
They offer bonuses for rent referrals, but I wouldn't invite my worst enemy to live here. Technically it could be worse, but I wouldn't want to see it.
