I moved into Village at Bear Creek in October 2008. I told the leasing office that my wife and I were full time students that depend on housing grants to pay expenses. We were NEVER late on rent. In February, while I was at the leasing office, the manager took me into her office and asked me and my wife to leave the complex. They even agreed to wave the $1500 lease termination fee. My wife and I were happy here so we said no... we wanted to stay. That was our biggest mistake!! After that we had heard from several tenants that the leasing office staff had it "out for us." They refused to send anyone up to repair our bad microwave. They refused to send anyone up to fix the carpeting issues. Our toilet broke, our refrigerator broke, and our washer was not working right... still no one from repair showed. We fixed the stuff with our own money, but that caused us to be short on the rent for April. We wrote the leasing office a formal letter saying we were withholding the amounts of the repairs from the rent and we sent them the partial rent check. They took the money but said we owed them the rest of the rent. They would not grant extensions. Without notifying us they sent us to court. When we appeared in court we found out we were being sued for unpaid rent and that we had 5 days to vacate the property. So they kicked me and my pregnant wife out on the streets.

I am sure that any apartment complex would send anyone to court for unpaid rent. There are laws to notification of unpaid rents... it does not seem like the judgment would have held up, if you were not in the wrong. With above a 70% recommendation from this site... maybe you are not telling the entire story.
