Worse and worse

I have lived here at The Village for almost three years, and it (as shown by other reviews) gotten progressively worse in terms of safety and quality of tenants. I realized when I first moved here that it wasn't the greatest neighborhood, but the gates and security guard eased my feelings........... at first, until my friend had her tires slased, and downhill from there up to the [speculated on my part] meth lab bust last week (I came home to a HUGE HAZ-MAT truck, fire trucks and tons of cops blocking the entrance).

The residents they lease to here is another growing concern. from inconciderate to downright rude and unbelieveably low-class. I have, on several occasions gone to the laundry room to find my cloths taken out of the dryer and left, while someone else takes up all the machines. That to go along with: two year-olds wandering around at midnight, people double parking, people rummaging through the trash, and to top it off, a cockroach problem that started shortly after a very "ghetto" couple moved into the apartment below me (they were evicted shortly after and, along with some baits, the roaches are gone, too).

The parking is horrible (at least around the upper buildings near the Loretto Heights campus). If I come home after 10 or 11pm, I often have to park by the Leasing office.

I have not had any major issues with the maintenance and office staff. Most of my maintenance issues were taken care of in a very timely manner. They were very accomidating in adding an additional handicapped space by my building after I blew out my knee, however the space was more conditional on the other residents observing the handicapped sign. Several times I tried getting cars that illegally parked in the spaces towed, but was given the run-around by everyone I talked to (including the towing company).

Overall, I would not reccomend living here until more of the safety issues are addressed, and I will not be renewing my lease, which is a shame. The apartment is very spacious with an incredible veiw at a great price. It would be perfect if it were a better neighborhood with more parking.......... too bad.................
