We are moving in, and everything is as described so far. The townhomes are nice but older, thus not glamorous, but inexpensive and perfect for our growing family. If you are looking for a decent place without crazy bells and whistles, and don't have a personality problem, Woodhaven's townhomes at least can be a good fit for you.
I agree the neighborhood is leaning a bit towards ghetto, but there is nearly zero crime in the area. If you actually do your homework before you move into a place you will end up with what you want. I have yet to read an intelligent person's unbiased review of the place here, if I did it would actually help the decision-making process. The construction is solid, but not brand new since these were built in the 50's but the amenities are decent, the terms and rules of the community are well established, doceumented, and seemingly enforced well. They have a zero-tolerance stance on lead paint, mold, water damage, and don't allow pets. They have done much to prepare for our arrival, we notice the little details, and so far they take pride in what they do. Every person on the Woodhaven staff has been courteous, helpful, proactive, accurate, and seemingly do care about what they do, so perhaps there has been a change in management or personnel in the past year.
I've been working with Edgar mostly, who has made the whole process go smoothly, and actually does call when he says he's going to, listens well to what I am asking for, and if he is any indication of the ethic around the place, we will get along famously. There are some nice perks, indoor pool, weight room, pizzas you can grab at the clubhouse, even racquetball, tennis, 2 outdoor pools, a cantina, etc.
Some of this review remains to be written until after we move, but if things change, I will be back here to update the status. Now it is up to Woodhaven to live up to the good things I've already seen there. I can speak on the apartments, since my experience has had nothing to do with them, however the townhomes have been just right for my family.

Hello, its so obvious that this review came from a leasing agent or manager at Woodhaven Apartments lol. One way you can tell is from the verbage they used to describe the property. For example: using words like famously, amenities, rules of the community, built in the 50's & zero tolerance stance on lead paint. Sorry I didn't fall off of the milk truck yesterday!

Symulacra, it really is obvious that you're employed by the company-maybe even Edgar himself tooting his own horn. It sounds like some kind of infomercial done by a guy wearing a ridicules tie and the smile of a crook. I find it very hard to believe that you asked about their policy of lead paint, mold, water damage, etc. I live at Woodhaven too, and don't have a problem living there. When I come across something this fake I almost feel I have to duty to respond! Next time you come up with a cool scheme to make someone look good; remember that sometimes less is more.

No, I am a resident. I like Edgar who works at Windrock, because each time I have met with him, he has treated me with respect and honesty, unlike previous landlords. I appreciate that sort of decorum and class in someone I am paying money to provide a service. Just because I have a vocabulary and an IQ above 84 doesn't mean I work for the complex, in fact it is evidence to the contrary. Most people who work in a leasing office do not have the same set of skills and ability to write the way I did, that's why they work there. They are good at customer service, have basic computer skills, can use a copier, etc. They don't typically have an expansive vocabulary, decent writing skill, and the knowledge to craft a review as I have. If you read it again you will see that this is accurate. I do more research than anyone does (and I drive my wife crazy with my obsessive researching tendencies occasionally), because it is my business to know all the information on something before I sign the dotted line. I take my duty of protecting my family very seriously, contrary to the oblivious status quo. I asked all these questions as stated, looked up crime statistics, found out the population, average ages, income, taxes, ethnicity, married, single, children, etc., found maps to all the places I would need to go from here, and more, all before moving here. Frankly, 99% of the reviews are a bitchfest, so I didn't think it would hurt to give an honest, objective opinion from someone who does not think or act like a 12 year old on a MySpace forum. The fact that neither of the commenters are willing to show their names exactly proves my point. If you have any imagination or the stuff to back up what you say, you wouldn't hide behind a synonym, and be honest. Now, I know that usually people try to cheat, lie, steal, and generally defraud others, and so this accusation you put forth does seem legitimate, however, there are a few good old fashioned people left in this country who engage in none of the above acts whenever possible. I am one of those people. Weird, awkward, strange, and rare I may be, but it is true none the less. I resent the accusations and do not appreciate the uncalled-for cynicism of the above commenters. Please know this is not fake or a ploy. The honest truth is that I was looking on this site as part of my research on Woodhaven, and planned to return with my fair assessment after seeing if my family would end up here, which we did, obviously, so that is why I added my review to the site. I see that this is more ill-fated than I had hoped. I was merely trying to voice my oft ignored opinion on something I found decent and upstanding, nothing more. I suppose in the end it is always the lot of bad apples who destroy the good one, yet again. -Symulacra

I'm sorry symulacra that you feel this is like a myspace forum. I believe that we are all here to help out. Just because you may an IQ of higher than an 84 does not mean your views of this apartment community are higher. In fact that should make you actually open your eyes and see what the facts are but being close minded can do that to a stuck up individual. And I would like to know what you call low crime? While walking to the trash I walked by a man selling pot to what looked like a 12 year old! I have seen at least 3 windows broken and some tires slashed! I have seen the litter all over the community (that??s a crime too, just in case you didn??t know that) and I at least know one apartment that got broken into! Research does not show all that, it is the community??s eyes and ears that convey the message. Did you walk up to the doors and ask hey what do you think about the community. NO you looked up crime statistics, found out the population, average ages, income, taxes, ethnicity, married, single, children, etc., found maps to all the places I would need to go from here, and more, all before moving here. What does the population and being racist toward age, ethnicity, marriage, single, children, etc, have to do with bugs, maintenance issues and the over all rating of this horrible community??

Mr. Anonymous - what is your problem? It's quite obvious you didn't do the things that you are accusing symulacra of not doing or you would not be so unhappy here. You saw crimes being done and I'll bet you didn't contact the police or the office. If you were at all interested about helping out the community that you are a part of, you would have done so. Why complain about everything - why not try to make the place better? You live here too - do your part!!! It's quite obvious that you are a bitter and unhappy person and like to find the bad in everything. Get real - the place is obviously older, it's affordable, and because it's older, it going to have more problems than a newer, more expensive place. A person with even your IQ could figure that one out! It's not a horrible community like you state. People like myself, who don't make a 3 figure income, can move here with their families and have a roof over their heads and a decent place to live. My children are in a good school district, and we are happy here. If you are so unhappy here - just go!
