I've been living at Alexan City Center since November 2004. The day we moved in I went over everything in the apartment and even though the office said the place would be cleaned it was far from it. We had brought up all of these issues before moving in and the office assured us they would be taken care of, however they were not. The cupboards were filthy and layered with dirt, dust & hair on the inside, the windows hadn't been washed, the kitchen and bathroom floors were so dirty that it took me hours of scrubbing to clean them, the cupboards in the bathroom were dirty, the toilet seat and toilet paper holder were broken, the blinds were bent, the bathtub hadnt been cleaned, and so on. Since the office was closed and all of our things were in the U-Haul, we had nowhere else to go & moved in anyway. I shouldve known better because that was only the first of many problems. The security gates are broken more than they actually work, people park in my reserved parking space that costs me an additional $35 a month, neighbors leave their trash lying around, the parking garage and halls in the building are filthy, when it's cold there's always an unavoidable patch of ice in the parking garage (appx. 5'x4') that I have to walk cross to get to the trash chute or my car & when it's wet out it turns into a puddle of water, the trash bin isnt large enough to support all of the buildings trash so trash piles up in heaps in the garage, the fire alarms go off and are VERY LOUD, renters have parties and throw things off balconies, their media-center which I had to use while waiting for my internet to be connected was terrible (computers didnt work, printer didnt work, computers were VERY old, broken chairs), rent varies every month and the office staff can never give me the correct amount. Just this month I paid my rent on the 1st and then get a note on the 3rd saying I owe an additional $68 because they had given me the wrong amount, they raised our rent & the rent payment is WAY too high for what you get. The office staff is inept and turns over so fast that youre dealing with a new person every month, they changed the lock on my storage unit because they had the wrong unit# on their computer (even though my lease paperwork had the correct # & I was paying the storage fee every month), someone side-swiped my car in the garage and didnt leave a note causing over $600 in damage and all I got from the office was sorry, we cant do anything about that, my car was ticketed in the garage but when I had moved in they never gave me a sticker to put on my car, kids skateboard in the parking garage & I can hear my neighbor when he takes a shower, walks, flushes the toilet and even when he is using the toilet! Half of the lights have been out for over a month now, I could go on and on, these are only some of the many things that have went wrong at the Alexan. Go somewhere you can walk to your car without tripping over your neighbors trash, the Alexan is way to expensive for what you get.

The rent bill they gave me on the 3rd was wrong too. They were saying I owed almost $300 more than I did. If you have a signed copy of your lease, there is no way that they can raise your rent. Make them honor your lease.
