I looked at about 20 apartments in this area and Courtney downs has them beat hands dow! This place is in a quiet area of town and close to the Denver Tech Center. It's near major shopping centers but far enough away that you don't catch the noise or the traffic from the shopping areas. I've been living there for 16 months and I'm already considering signing another 12 month lease. Courtney Downs is full of new families, working professionals and single parents so if you're looking for the singles party scene try the Metropolitan - South of Park Meadows Mall. The price is great for 2 bedrooms and our appartment is very quiet. Parking is unassigned and open but common courtesy parking is enforced. The jerk who took an entire parking space with his 100cc dirt motorbike got a 2 day warning to move his/her bike and when it wasn't moved, it was towed at owner's expense. I asked the maintenance about the "White Powder" issue in the water and it was explained to me that it's just an anti-calcification cleaner used to reduce the wear and tear on the pipes in the building and it is safe to drink (consider that the government puts flourine - a deadly chemical if consumed in quantity - in the water to keep your teeth white.) I've always had good experiences with the staff. My maintenance issues have always been handled within a few days. I'd highly recommend this place to working professionals and new families. I myself feel completly safe letting my new wife walk around the complex at night and the main county police and fire dispatch stations are within a mile of the appartments so no worry there either. Take all of the other reviews (and this one as well) with a grain of salt and take a llok for yourself. Shop around too, we got a great deal on this two bedroom!

The issue I had with white powder wasn't in the water, but it was in the air filter and eventually all over my TV, electronics, chairs, etc. It absolutely CAKED an air filter one month.

the water is undrinkable due to residue. And it is not just a bit, it is very, very noticeable. Even though some people say it is safe to drink, it is gross enough not too. The kitchen rag smells gross even though I wash it three times a day. I woudn't recommend ingesting any residue to be on the safe side. I mean what else the management is going to tell you that it is a horrible and undrinkable water. Who is going to want to live here after that. So be careful.

The county fire department may be close by, but closer is the county correctional facility (behind the Broncos training camp) which does have higher level criminals in it - in other words long-term criminals with violent history. I know because I worked there. However, there have not been any major incidents, but when they are released, they are not taken someplace else and must find their own transportation away from the facility. When I decided to have a family, I moved from Courtney Downs and also because I don't want my kids playing in the grass full of dog feces...
