I've lived in many apartments within the Denver metro area. I will give you honest experiences without any exaggeration.
Of all the apartments I have inhabited, never have I had so many issues as with Fox Ridge.
I currently live in the "Dewberry" model. My apartment was supposed to be on the first floor. Instead, without my knowing, I was given an apartment at 'garden level.' This basically means you live in the basement (underground.) The model apartment that was presented for me was newly renovated. It had new appliances, plush carpet, and a clean foundation. I did not know that with Fox Ridge what you see is NOT what you get. A week after signing my lease I finally got to see the apartment I was renting. It looked nothing like the model! It was old, dirty, poorly maintained, brillo carpet, crooked fireplace, chipped tile, smelled of mold, original 1980's hardware, layered caulking and paint, etc. I was shocked! Talk about false advertisement!
The apartments are so old (mid 80's) that every crevice has some type of insect hiding in it. I cannot tell you how many times I have walked into my kitchen greeted by spiders, Black Widows included. The spiders are at their worst in the spring and winter. There are also ants. I bombed my bathroom, but even that did not work. I've found these ants in my shower and my bed sheets! You can actually see areas of the foundation where the carpet doesn't meet with the wall, simply making more space for bugs to enter. Oh, I forgot to mention the infestation of wasps. Do not ask me how, but for two summers in a row these wasps (Yellow Jackets) have entered into my apartment. I have found them in my window sills, on my couch, and in my kitchen! Fox Ridge actually has an on-call exterminator that has to come out to the property twice a month. That, to me, says something awful.
My apartment has flooded a total of five times. The complex is supposed to have a working pump that drains the water during rain storms. No, not quite. Last summer my apartment had flooded all the way to the center of my master bedroom. I had to sleep in the living room! Plus, one evening I came home to walk through my hallway and discover a sopping wet carpet. Apparently the apartment next to me had flooded as well. What did Fox Ridge do, they secretly charged me an extra $10.00 on my water bill to cover the damage charges, including new pad and water absorption!
You can hear every footstep your neighbors make, because the buildings are so old! Plus, due to lack of insulation, you can hear conversations from across the hall.
So the apartment comes with reserved, covered parking and you're almost always guaranteed a spot. However, there is no lighting. I have to walk through the dark to get to my apartment, and trust me, it is a long walk. My car was stolen from the so-called "secure" parking lot in July 2006. The only thing they had to say was, "Oh, we're so sorry."
The area within the last few years has gone from being safe to very iffy. There are some serious weirdo s moving in here.
I am actually set to move in March 2007, because the apartment has raised my rent from $787 to $890 in a little over a years' time.
Please renters, beware of these overpriced, under-maintained nightmare apartments.
