May appear to be inexpensive but isn't - Also, mold and rotten wood issues

We thought this was a fairly inexpensive place to live for the amount of space, but have found out we were wrong. We were told by Amanda the manager that gas is included on your rent bill and it would be around $25 a month. In actuality it has been between $35 - $100 a month. There is no explanation for this. There are additional charges for carports, pets, water, trash, sewer, etc. Basically, you can count on paying an extra $200-$300 per month on top of the base rent.
There is a mold problem here because they do not have a professional maintenance staff that knows what they are doing. Leaking pipes that never get fixed. There are only two maintenance guys. Usually, when they come to fix something they make the problem worse. The cabinets are so old they have a rotten wood smell and you can smell the mildew in the bathrooms.
The grounds and the laundry room are very poorly maintained. The swimming pool is not heated, even though management says it is and closed alot because it isn't clean. There are always alot of unattended kids at the pool as well.
The management is rude and offers no explanations or solutions.
Rent has to be paid by the 3rd or they will start eviction proceedings.
If you do come to look at KV make sure you look at the actual apartment you are renting. The "show apartment" is just that. Not the real thing.
You are required to give a 60 day notice if you are moving.
They are offering a discount on rent for tenants to refer new tenants. I can't think of anyone I would refer to this place if I wanted to remain friends with them.

I have lived here for 6 months and disagree with what this Anonymous person has to say.
I was never told that gas was included in rent. What Amanda told me was that the gas bill for each building would be divided between the number of units, square footage and number of people and thats how its determined what your part of the bill is. Each unit does not have its own meter so sounds fare to me. You knew this before signing lease, so if you did not like how it was set up, maybe you should have not signed! And paying an extra $200-$300 per month yeah right LIE! My extra cost $100 for gas, water-sewer and trash. Sounds to me like you what something for nothing.
Maintenance staff - I have not had any problems. No mold or mildew problems with my unit.
The kitchen cabinets are out dated and old. I gave mine a little paint makeover they look good now.
I do agree that the grounds and the laundry room are very poorly maintained and definitely need to be improved. I have never seen the lady that is supposed to be taking care of the grounds. So I do not know what she does, because she is not cleaning.
I have to disagree with what many of the comments made by the Anonymous people who have left reviews about this complex.

Here's a few thoughts from someone who has lived here for a few years. Everything costs extra (gas, electric, water, sewer, parking). Staff is very rude. Your first 6 months will be nice. When renewal times comes, watch out! Your rent might go up $100 or $200 dollars. You might have trouble getting things fixed. The grounds are poorly maintained. Your neighbors might get evicted (for a variety of reasons). Don't ever be late on your rent or you will find out just how nice they are. You will get a letter from their lawyer (with fees of course). And of course if you get home late at night, you won't be able to find a place to park. Other than that it's a nice place to live.

I trully agree with what people are saying. I've lived here for over a year now and I decided to go month-to-month because I wanted to move and my rent went up an extra $100.00. Even when I was locked in my lease I still never seen a rent bill under $850.00 and my base rent was $760.00! The appartments are a nice size, but not worth the money, or the hassele of toting your laundry back n forth to a laundry room that only has one large washer, and broke-down regular ones!
