They seem nice enough at first, but then once they've trapped you in a lease they don't care what happens to you.

Throughout my lease the staff have generally been very nice, but now that we've given notice that we're not renewing our lease they've basically F***ed us over.

When I originally negotiated my lease with Star I requested a 6 month lease with a 30 day notice, and she said that would be fine, so I filled everything out, and went on my way to wait and hear back from them about my application approval. Instead I get a call back from Star telling me, "Actually... we can only do 15 month leases, but I went ahead and processed your application and you're all approved." I said, "That's great, but I can't do a 15 month lease. You said a 6 month lease would be fine, and now I don't have time to find another place." So we talked it out and at least got down to 9.5 months. (they already had my deposit check/ application fee which was ALL of my money at the time, so it wouldn't have been back in my account in time to do a new deposit and application in time to move.) So I gave in.

I went in to look everything over one more time with Star and she kept saying, "and we've been over this, and we've been over this, and we already talked about this..." So she never told me that by going from a 6 month lease to a 9.5 month lease it made my notice go from 30 days to 60 days.

Recently, I've been out of town with my grandmother who's been in and out of the hospital (I have documentation to prove this) and when I got back I went in to the office to give my notice while I had a chance, before leaving town again to help my grandmother. It was about 45 days before the end of my lease, so I thought I was well within my 30 days of notice... Come to find out they've "Extended my lease" (<-- their words)through the next month, so I now owe them a "prorated month-to-month" amount.

I explained the situation to Christopher in the leasing office who said, "That's not my problem. You can either pay the $x,xxx.00 or get evicted. Whatever. It's up to you. You could have mailed us something if you were out of town, and just because she didn't tell you that she changed it doesn't make this our fault either. You should have noticed." 45 Days is MORE than sufficient notice that I will be moving out on the date specified BY YOU in my lease.

Heartless Jerk.

I've NEVER had a pleasant experience dealing with Christopher. He talks down to everyone, like he thinks they're the stupidest person he's ever met, and obviously doesn't enjoy his job, because every time I need anything (like asking for a package that they accepted) he acted like I just asked him to do the hardest thing in the world.

Even on the day that I picked up my keys. I had to drive over an hour to go pick up my keys, which I'd scheduled to do, but when I got there, Christopher (good ol' Christopher...) was locking the door and starting to leave (around 2pm). I said I had an appointment to pick up my keys, and he rolled his eyes, continued to lock the door and said, "Then you'll need to come back in about 2 hours. We're all on our way to a birthday party." I said, "I just drove over an hour in this freaking blizzard to pick up my keys, which I had an appointment to do. I'm not driving all the way home just to turn around and come back when the weather is like this." So he did his, "uggggh... you're such a pain..." thing and we went in. I signed one piece of paper, he handed me my keys and a move in checklist, and I was on my way. It took less than 2 minutes, and he was going to have me leave and come back in 2 hours so he could go to a birthday party during my scheduled appointment. WHAT''

Now he's extended our lease due to extenuating circumstances, so we have to take them to court. We're already reporting them to the housing authority, because this is a recession and you can't charge an unfair amount for something that is their fault to begin with (changed the notice period without informing me).

I just moved and already gave my "12 Months Notice that I will be Moving Out on my lease end date." So they can't screw us over, too.

Hello, I've lived at Peakview Place for about 5 years now. I love the community, apartments and the staff. I love to come on here and read these posts from people who are obviously lying...for whatever reasons, I don't know. I've never posted a reply or comment, but I have to on this one because it's very intriguing to hear this. In all the years I've lived here, Peakview Place has NEVER offered a six month lease. (Belive me, a lot of my friends would have rented here if they did have that option.) Plus, whatever is in the contract that YOU signed is all they can hold you accountable for. Don't be mad at someone else because you got into a contract that you had to break early. Also, I do a lot of shopping online, so I'm in the office almost everyday picking up a package. Everything I've ever heard Star telling people is the truth. She's been there for a long time and seems like a really honest, caring individual. She treats me nice and I've been here forever. I hope whomever reads this comment I'm replying to doesn't believe it.

Having lived here for about 2 years, I dread having to deal with Chris. He shouldn't be in public relations.
