Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007
When we came to this apartment complex they showed a nice new apartment still in the works of being refurnished from the previous resident. They said that thats what they usually do when residents move out. We were sold because it was spacious and the court yard was great looking and there was a great playground to look at. We should of looked a lot closer and asked more questions because we have been wanting to move. The only reason we cant is because we cant afford to move anywhere else.
I have had so many problems with noise control and the office wont do anything but take complaints and then give it a consideration of not resigning that persons lease for the next year. The walls are supremely thin and you can hear everything and if the neighbors are up till one or two o'clock in the morning watching their blasting tv you are too. There is no rules of noise control during the day either. Our neighbors had their base on so loud our floors were vibrating under our feet and the neighbors upstairs had their music so loud our we could hear every word of the song they were listening to. Also, the floor creaks everywhere you walk and you can tell where they are walking because he hear creaks and thumps. It sounds like a heard of elephants is going through the upstairs apartment because of the kids running through it all the time.
There is no security on the grounds at all and the court yard and play ground are full of glass and cigarettes. The kids are awful to the little ones. They push them around, push them down and call them names. My child has come crying to me so many times with scratches and pinch marks and telling me what they said to him and that they don't want to play with him anymore. I don't send him out there by himself anymore I have to go out and watch constantly. If you don't catch it you'll hopefully hear about it from someone else, then you'll confront the child and ask if they did it and they'll totally ignore you and run to their parents denying the whole thing. Then the parents that don't watch over their child will slam the door in your face saying that their child isn't that way to other kids.
The laundry rooms are a disaster because they are never clean and the ceilings are leaking sometimes. The laundry machines are sometimes not working so its difficult to get laundry done and the rules of the laundry room are totally ignored. Your laundry will be moved and set on top of the dryers by the residents that live in that building. Yes, there isn't a laundry room in all the complexes. So if it is 30 degrees outside and you have to do laundry your walking in that weather to get it done. The cost of the laundry machines change too. Without telling you first, so if you go to do laundry you may not have enough and have to get more out of your bank just to get it done.
The trash bins are not close to all of the apartment buildings, you have to walk quite a distance to get your trash into the garbage. Its only collected once a week but everyone dumps their furniture out there and so you have mounds of trash in the street and other parking spaces around it.
The parking lot has gigantic holes in it from the damage from the winters. They are never fixed so driving out of the parking lot is very difficult. The parking is horrible around here. If you come in any later than eight o'clock you are out of luck in parking in front of your building you live in. I once I had a friend that had to park on the opposite side of the apartment complexes just to get home. The resteraunt across the street was the other option. Since then they have made parking a restriction when it comes to cars that belong to people who are not residents. If they don't live there and they stay there for a long time their car could be towed. So at least that fixed any and everyone parking at our complexes.
The neighborhood is nice looking but the police is called quite often to come out and maintain control because of so many disturbances. From fights amongst the families, children or noise control.
Leaks in the ceiling of the bathrooms. They never get fixed on time and then when they do it was a half ass job and so mold grows and allergic reactions send you to the hospital.Maintenance comes when it likes. Sometimes they go months without a maintenance person to fix problems so they have to call out people from apartments buildings to come fix the problem.
The water is constantly being turned off because of it not working right or the hot water had turned off completely for a couple of hours before the maintenance came to fix it. On top of that the plumbing was so backed up in the apartment below us that it over flowed into our apartment and now we have tons of cockroaches and even a mouse in our apartment.
The leases were a different thing all together. At renewal of leases if you didn't want to renew for another year and just wanted to stay for six months your rent amount was increased by a hundred dollars. Thats why we are still living here under our original rent amount because we couldn't afford to live anywhere else and we couldn't afford not to renew our lease for another year. Just recently the management went to a different company and now we have to pay for our water now. Which was another reason why could afford this place, it was not like in the beginning, in the beginning we didn't have to pay for our water. Now our bills have changed and we have less money monthly because of the change.
There is a two bus stops near by and one of them goes directly in front of the apartment complex but it also is non stop till the early morning and so you hear a bus stop by your apartment all day and night long. The traffic is severely busy all the time and after six in the morning you are hearing constant driving of speeding cars.
The good things about this complex is that the office staff is extraordinarily nice and they are very friendly. They do little things for the neighborhood like decorations for the holidays or small parties in the office for the children at Halloween time. There are resteraunts near by and two gas stations. Just up the way are major areas that contain grocery stores and Walgreen's. Besides that its just not a wise investments. Even still the office isn't open on the weekends. So if you do want to look at this place you have to do it during the week and before six o'clock.
