My wife and I lived at summit view for a year and a half. During this time our bath tub cracked 3 times and required us to find somewhere else to live while they fixed it along with a simultaneous water line break that flooded our bedroom. Worst of all, our daughter developed asthma from the strong cigarrette smoke fumes that would waft in through the walls and vents.
Mold is a problem. When the water line broke we peeled off some of the loose paint on the wall only to reveal mold and endure the wrath of the maintenance man.
The management will confiscate your deposit. We left our apartment completely spotless. We even polished the splash plates (the thing that goes under the burner) for the stove with steel wool until they shined like mirrors. Notwithstanding, we received only $30 of the $300 deposit we gave them because the said they had to replace the splash plates! Those only cost a couple of dollars at best!

Instead of "scrubbing" the drip pans you ahould have simply gone to Wal-Mart and bought new ones. All apartments replace the old ones regardless how clean they may look. If they were used they quit "shining" long ago. Funny, I left early and got a refund of my deposit. BUT my apartment was truly clean and I made sure the manager walked it with me before I gave her my keys. Sounds like your apartment wasn't so spotless. I had a $500 deposit and received $400 (less the pet portion that was deemed non refundable) back.

I find it extremely hard to believe that you were charged $270.00 for drip pans. I'm not sure about your bath tub, definately sounds like it should have been fixed correctly the first time. However I do not see how management has any control of a water line breaking? Water drywall = the perfect opportunity for mold growth HOWEVER I would hope that if I EVER found mold in my apartment that I would quickly see maintenance in my apartment to remedy the situation.

Well since maintenance never responded to fix things and when they did they were broken again or cracking in a month I don't see how calling maintenance would have helped.

I lived there and would have to agree with you about the management. I found them to be extremely sneaky-evasive-and unwilling to stop the drug dealing, in fact they participated in it. The owners refused to do anything about the underhanded management! This is one unit I would welcome taking to court. The worst experience iv'e encounterd renting an apartment! With scum for management you can only expect it draws it like flies.
