Don't let this happen to you!!!

My husband and I took an apt. here when his job relocated him and we needed housing in a hurry. I would have rather sat up a cardboard box in the ballpark across the street then gone thru what i have in the past 4 mths.
If you are a responsible adult do not even consider living here for any amount of time. The rent is too high for the amenities offered and there are plenty of places
to rent thru realtors in the area now. We have over 52 violent REPEAT sex offenders
within a 1 mile circle of this location!
This is a 3 story complex, all units are connected in a horseshoe shaped building.
There is one on site laundry unit for 57 units.
We were stuck between people who's most prized possession was the set of 4ft. high stereo speakers they scattered throughout their apt. One was directly under our
pc in the master bedroom. The idiot above us goes to college here on a basketball
scholarship and has no retention of the english language. He and his room mates live above us and go back and forth across the ceiling of our living room all day and night. This building is old and the creaking thru the floorboards above make me feel
like we are below decks in a sailing ship of some sort. It's horrific!
Even after numerous people have mentioned the noise level they generate he still goes on as if the world is his oyster. I have taken to wearing earplugs in the evenings so I can watch tv with the captions on and listening to my ipod during the day while I am on the computer. I don't personally think that I should have to go to such an extent to maintain my sanity and pay exorbitant rent too, but the mgmt here would rather have the apt filled and just pacify everyone verbally instead of evicting people who have obviously caused problems here for some time.
I have not noticed any disturbances from other parts of the building but there
are issues with the three families across the street. There is the typical high-school parking lot noise...screeching tires, honking horns, blaring radios, loud talking, girls squealing, train whistles, sirens, helicopters, you will not be spending any quality quiet time in your own home at any time while your here.
We have swamp coolers on the roof that work wonderfully if the only thing your
trying to cool in a 90 degree summer in the living room. There is absolutely NO
movement of air thru here without additional fans and ac units. If you do open
your windows, day or night, you are subjected to all the noise I mentioned earlier
as well as the possibility of a break in if your on the 1st or 2nd floors. Keep in
mind that if you do not live on the second floor you do not control the thermostat
for the cooler and will be at the mercy of whoever does.
The kitchen is practically archaic, no self-cleaning oven, no ice maker, no sprayer on the kitchen sink. And the filth level of the apt when we moved in actually made me
afraid to touch anything until I could clean. The water pipes are noisy and will wake up up when your inconsiderate neighbor wants to take a shower at 3am. None of the screens fit the windows and none of the locks on the windows work or are even made to fit in these windows. The carpet is something straight from the 40's and is stained and worn with traffic patterns. They say they cleaned it but I still won't
go barefoot in here.
Anyway, I just wanted to try and let decent people know how bad this place really is.
We plan on leaving as soon as the lease is up. I barely even unpacked anything to make our exit faster. So if you hear of apt number 38 being empty stay as far away
from it as humanly possible or you'll be the next victim of the idiot upstairs.
