If you happen to be looking at Gateway, I would hope you reconsider! We moved here and felt safe in the nice "quiet" area. The staff assured us it is a very safe neighborhood, and let us know if problems arose, they would take security measures. Within months, there had been upwards of 6 vehicle break-ins, and nothing done about it. Residents are forced to park well away from their buildings, thus leaving their cars out of sight. Several times have our personal vehicles been tampered with, and numerous occasions the police notified about the kids running around the area. If they aren't busy breaking into cars, its starting fights and smoking around the property.
The Rent is outrageous- 705$ for a one bedroom! And the management is constantly harrassing people about pets, even offering rewards for "catching" people's pets misbehaving. On top of it all, trying to get anyone to fix something is impossible. After the third time the maintainence man told me my sink wasn't leaking- it was my imagination- I quit asking them, after all; they pay the water bill.
So, if this suits you, and you like being treated as though you are incompetent, and love throwing away your money- welcome to the neighborhood.

I live at Gateway Place and I'd like to counter some of your claims...
You said, "...trying to get anyone to fix something is impossible." - I do not have this problem. The maintenance staff here has always been pretty prompt and professional.
You said, "even offering rewards for "catching" people's pets misbehaving." - The only thing I know of that the office offers a reward for regarding pets is owners not picking up their dogs' crap like they're supposed to. I agree with the idea of giving a reward to people who report those lazy, selfish and inconsiderate dog owners who do not clean up after their dogs.
You said, "Residents are forced to park well away from their buildings, thus leaving their cars out of sight." - This is actually true and extremely annoying.
You said, "...kids running around the area." - The only kids I have seen causing problems are the obnoxious college kids that have to have their little get-togethers and parties almost every night.
You said, "...if this suits you, and you like being treated as though you are incompetent." - I do not have that problem with the office staff at all. I'm treated like the competent, responsible adult that I am.
