I am a current resident of the Belmar Villas, formerly Riata at Bel Mar Park, and I have to say that this is the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. We have a problem with the maintenance people getting to do their jobs, and doing it properly. Since the split of the complex, we have had a problem with the staff regarding rental issues. When I say rental issues, I mean the fact that we have to pay 2 different heating bills. We have to pay for our regular heat through Xcel Energy, and a seperate bill from the property. When inquired about the seperate bill, we never get the same answer twice. We get an array of answers like "The bill is for the water heater" or "The bill is split among the other residents for heating" or my favorite excuse they have given me was, "The seperate bill is shared with your energy bill." Well excuse me, then why is it we get a seperate bill from Xcel'!!! The total cost of our seperate bill ranges from $30 to $80 in one month, along with our regular rent. That's not including the pet rent, and water fee we also pay with the rent.
We also have a big problem with the neighbors and their loud music, shouting and fighting. People here speed through the parking lots, regardless if theier are people around. We also have a big problem with other residents and their pets. This property claims that pets that are out without their owners, or a leash, the pet owners are subject to eviction after 3 warnings. Yeah Right! We have complained about a couple of dogs, who in my opinion should be put down, because they have tried attacking me and my young daughter. When we complained to Resident Services, they did nothing. When we complained about the noise from the neighbors, they did nothing.
I highly discourage anyone to try and get an apartment from this place, and I know fellow other residents will agree with me. I just told you about the problems me and my family have had to deal with while living here. There are other families and residents here who have been left out in the cold, because they either had no heat in their apartments, or their places were completely flooded due to broken pipes that should have been fixed.
