My boyfriend and I have lived in our 1st floor (more garden level) place for 2 and a half years now. Overall, I would say that Riva Ridge is decent for the price and size of apartment. My biggest pet peeves were 1. They don't recycle. I know this is a small thing, but it seems most places do now. 2. The neighbors can be loud. There are a good number of young people and students. My suggestion is to get the top floor. Yeah, you have to move all your stuff up there, but there is no one above you stomping around.
Since we live on ground level we tend to get insects during parts of the year, but the management was very helpful and willing to pay to have the place sprayed. They were also very promt and friendly with maintenance requests. We have had a clogged tub, a de-funked disposal, and a broken wax ring on the john. The fireplace isn't super functional and the front door has gaps so cold air comes in when it's cold. These things are small.
I read some of the other reviews and I have never felt unsafe. My car has never been broken in to and nobody I know who lives here has had problems. There is plenty of parking and there is a great park and fitness club across the street. The place is worth considering and checking out. If you work or go to school downtown the park in ride down the street is very convenient (goes right to Market St and Auraria).
