I lived at St. Mortitz for 3 years-- it was horrible. I had an obnoxious drunk living above me and a metal head below. (I like metal but I also respect other people's right to peace). Yes the sound insulation between floors is very bad. Management would tell you they would do something but it was just lip service. The metal head was always late w/ rent, but they weren't evicted because Carmel (the company who owns St Mortitz) was collecting the late fees and making money. Yes, Carmel couldn't care less about their tenants-- they just want to make loads of money from them. Needless to say I moved out recently and about a month later got a bill for about $1000 because they needed to replace the carpet for what they said was pet damage. My cat had indeed scratched small spots by the hinges in 2 doorways doing minor damage which could have been repaired for much cheaper. I put $300 down for the cat at move in time, but only $150 counted towards the damage because they call the other $150 a "pet fee", not a deposit. So here I am out 1000 dollars for carpet that if you saw, you would agree that it did not need to be replaced (If they even did replace it). Bottom line is that you will have a lousy living experience here and will end up paying a lot of money when you move out-- your extra low deposit is just a gimmick to get you in the door and sign a the lease.

We also had to pay for 'pet damage' to carpets. 1500 dollars for 1 bedroom!, which obviously didn't need to be replaced. Also, the edges of the carpet were never even properly tacked down.
