Not the best, not the worst

I put down that I would not recommend Autumn Chase primarily because of the way I was treated by the office staff. After signing the lease, every interaction with them was unpleasant, whether I was inquiring about a policy or simply paying my rent. I felt as though I was being looked down upon or being a major nuisance, specifically by the leasing manager.

My unit was a ground floor 2 bedroom 2 bath, which was well laid out and gave the feeling of a small house rather than an apartment. Unfortunately we had numerous issues with leaks, and insulation.

The unit was so poorly insulated that we could easily feel the air rushing in around the doors and windows. I often kept the heat at 80 during the winter and the AC at 60 in the summer, just to make the place livable. My electric bill was easily 3x what it is in my current home. We did have maintenance look at the issue for us, however we were told that residence didn?t not know how to ?properly? close their windows. After having our windows ?properly? closed, we were not surprised to see absolutely no change.

Leaks were a large concern. In my particular unit, we would have puddles on the window seals and carpet after a strong rain or big snow. These concerns were met with no action by maintenance, and management never responded to my complaints.

Noise was a big issue, as our neighbor upstairs could hear our movies or music even when they weren?t up that loud. Additionally, we always heard her yelling at her children or her children yelling at one another. We also knew when her little boy was running and we could almost tell where he was running at any given moment. As neighbors we worked together to determine how loud our stereos could be, and when she needed to tell her kids to keep it down.

Parking wasn?t bad. The car ports are a little unsightly, but better than no covering at all.

The grounds are beautiful, and well landscaped. Keep in mind, if you rent a lower unit, you will probably loose natural light because of the trees on the ground. This was not a big deal to us. They keep the grass cut, and the weeds pulled, the pool and hot tub always looked clean to us as well.

About the Pool and Hot Tub rules... As with most apartments they close at 10:00pm, but many apartments will leave you alone if you stay quiet. Not the case here, they have a slightly over excited rent-a-cop who will crawl on his belly through the bushes just to sneak up on you. I found the man to be unnecessarily rude and I did not appreciate him threatening to call the real Police. (As if they don?t have better things to do) I could understand this behavior had I been unwilling to cooperate with him, but that was not the case. Just keep in mind, he usually shows up 15 to 30 minutes after the area is closed, and unless you want an unpleasant experience, I suggest being out of there around 10. He?ll even harass you if he catches you while you?re leaving.

In the end, my experiences weren?t great, but that?s not to say that another unit won?t be better. Read the other reviews, and take mine with a grain of salt.
