The worst apartment complex I've ever lived in

The staff is by and large rude and unresponsive. When you complain about something, they often respond very sarcastically and belittle you. There is only one trash receptacle for the entire complex, which is often overflowing with trash. They recently showed up at my front door telling me I had to let them in to perform an inspection, without prior notice, a major intrusion. My wife was still in bed. The complex was utterly unresponsive during the winter blizzards last year, and we were left to dig ourselves out. The walls of the apartments are paper-thin, and they do nothing to enforce their rules on courtesy to other residents.

The noise in the complex is intolerable. Many of the residents act like they live in a frat house. Living adjacent to the pool, people are always going to the hot tub in the middle of the night, causing me to be woken up. Sometimes it's drunk people swearing, sometimes they're in there naked. Sometimes they swear at you and threaten you when you tell them to leave. One neighbor had a rock thrown through his bedroom window by hoodlums, after I had told them I was going to call the police since they refused to leave (that rock was meant for me). I have complained constantly about this since moving here, and all they have done is hire a security patrol which stops by every few hours. They won't lock the gates, turn off the hot tub, install sound-proof glass, or install a security system. I've had to call the police innumerable times, as the security patrol is useless. Basically, they will only spend money on what will make them money, so tough cookies if you have a problem.

They spend a lot of money keeping up the grounds, but it's only a facade to lure new residents in, rather than to improve the lives of their residents. Recently, a ridiculous plan was implemented to re-pave the entire complex within four days, every night shutting off 1/4 of the parking from 6:30 am to 7am the next morning, with no parking available to make up for it (parking's tight already). Maximize inconvenience for residents while keeping the job cheap.

Mercifully, my wife and I are moving out soon. Do yourself a favor and don't even consider moving into the Bluffs at Highlands Ranch. It's expensive and a miserable experience, and I have lived many places around the country.

We had the exact same experience. also be careful, if you have cable pay per view movies. I documented a "maintenance man" who watched a inappropriate movie on my widescreen while I was at work... he didn't get to finish it though and the technology let me know that it was unfinished??? Also the electical is not to code... its a nightmare!! We called the police regularly too and we lived no where near the pool.

I have had the exact problems that the 1st former resident has had - I did not have any heat in my apt at 1:30 in the morning so I called the main number to leave a message for the maintence emergency team. The message clearly states that it would alert someone and they would call me right back. This never happen. remind you this is in the middle of winter. so after waiting an hour and not receiving a call I again called the office and left another message on the maintence emergency line. after about 45 minutes. I decided that it was best for my 2 young daughter and myself to get up and go to my parents house. I never received a phone call back. I was the one who actually called them the next day. they explained very rudely that I didn't not call the new line so they never got the message. I wonder if we all lived in the same apt. I am at this very moment up at 2am because there are drunk residents at the pool who woke me up. This is the worst place to live espically for the cost of the rent. Do not ever move in to these apts.
