Stay far away from The Bluffs at Highlands Ranch!

I could write a book about the problems with this complex! First, the staff is so immature and unprofessional it?s ridiculous. According to the property management?s website (Metric Property Management at www.metriccares.com) ?Metric C.A.R.E.S presents out philosophy of ensuring that Customers Always Receive Excellent Service. This is our commitment to residents, customers, the local community and the environment?. (Yes, the typo is copied directly from their site.)

Their supposed commitment to residents is to advertise fully cable ready apartments, but if you move into a two bedroom unit, only the living room and master bedroom are going to have one cable jack each. You cannot have additional jacks added. Also, the stoves in the kitchen completely block one of the drawers?you have to open the oven door to get the drawer open. This is simply asinine. And don?t hold your breath for the place to be clean when you move in. The tile in the bathrooms was molded and the kitchen cupboards and refrigerator were filthy. We spent hours cleaning while moving in.

Parking is pathetic, although they propose that this will be better. They just asphalted the drives and before doing so sent out notices that cars were to be moved to other areas of the complex, the medical center next door or the entrance to the Highline Canal. Tenants interpreted ?the entrance to the Highline Canal? to mean the entrance to the complex as well (which leads to the Canal) and so cars were lined up. The complex towed these cars to spaces throughout the complex so residents had to search for them! Not to mention the fact that some of them had been opened in the process! Also, the lease plainly states that garages are not to be used solely for storage, but most of the garages are so loaded with stuff they can?t get the doors open. This only aggravates the parking situation.

Response to maintenance requests is a joke. The neighbors above us had reported their entrance light being burned out numerous times over the four months they initially lived there. It was not repaired until they put a request in to the manager in writing and asked her to sign it. If you put in a maintenance request, the staff will write it down on a Post-it note and nothing will be done.

As for a commitment to the community, this is so not true. The Denver area is suffering drought conditions and instituted watering schedules. The Bluffs was watering every day at 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. until the residents had to call the local monitoring board to complain. The board had one staff member totally devoted to monitoring The Bluffs due to the volume of complaints of their violation of the restrictions. When we called the office, they said they ?did not care? or ?we don?t know how to set the sprinklers?.

The complex is very animal friendly, but quite honestly after reading the other reviews I am afraid to see what is going to happen with supposed ?pet damages? when we move out. They do provide receptacles for disposing of pet litter, but the bag dispenser has been empty for six months. When it was hot this summer, the trash for the litter was not removed for almost two weeks! It was overflowing and smelled horrible. Naturally, this was a deterrent for residents to pick up their pet litter.

The washers and dryers are low capacity and had broken zip ties and nails in them. You only get a maximum of 15 minutes of hot water to shower and the water takes at least an hour to reheat. We have had to shower together to make this work in our schedules. There are also spiders everywhere.

Essentially, I would not recommend The Bluffs at Highlands Ranch to my worst enemy. We have all heard the expression ?don?t judge a book by its cover.? Well, that is definitely the case with The Bluffs. It looks very nice on the outside, but the inside is pure hell!
