Not a two-way street

I moved into Archstone spring 2000 and just moved out (spring 2003). At first I was really pleased with the complex as a whole (staff, maintenence, amentities and the actual apartments) but as the years went by I became more and more unhappy. Once you move in and they've got ya it's definitly not a two-way street as far as what you pay for is NOT what you get.
We were given two electronic keys 3 years ago but since the gates have never worked, have since lost them and have to pay $50 EACH for them.Ironic considering we never had a chance to use them.
Our carpet has not been replaced since the building opened 4 years ago (we were the second tenants) but they are now charging us $870 to replace it because we had a dog and they can blame the fact it needs replacing on a dog.
We lived on the first floor and because of the settling the building shifted and our windows have never been able to lock IN A FIRST FLOOR APARTMENT!! They told us we can move into another apartment at our own cost.
We've have numerous pieces of clothing ruined or stolen at the laundry center, stuff stolen off our patio and our car broken into. (Though I realize that's a problem no management can ever completely eradicate)
They now require 2 MONTHS notice that you are going to move out when your lease expires (seems a little long).
A huge gripe is the late rent policy. If you are more than 3 days late they send you to an attorney to sue you!
What Archstone Dakota Ridge advertises is an apartment complex that is pet friendly, well maintained, safe and has management that will work with you to meet your needs. That is not at all what you get.
