Dakota Ridge formerly Archstone Dakota Ridge

Not awful, but certainly could be better.

I moved to Archstone Dakota Ridge a year ago and I??ve had enough. Like all apartments there are the usual problems but some things seem a little excessive at Archstone.
First, the gates never work and are more of a nuisance than an amenity. IF YOU THINK THE GATES ARE A SECURITY FEATURE YOU WILL BE SADLY DISAPPOINTED as they are usually open, if not you can count on several people following you in when you open the gates; there have also been countless close calls when people enter the almost always open exit gate with no regard for other cars.
The high school across the street and the Wal-Mart down the street make driving on Coal Mine an interesting and often dangerous venture, Coal Mine becomes nearly impassable when school hours start and end. Its also important to know that construction on a new hospital will begin soon right next to Archstone. There are however nice parks, bike paths and a recreation center in walking distance from Archstone.
The walls don??t seem to be paper thin like in many other apartments but like in all apartments neighbors can still be herd.
Some of the apartments have very impressive views overlooking 470 and others overlook the Denver skyline. The views were a main reason I moved here and are good but I don??t understand why anyone would pay a similar price for a view of a parking lot.
Parking is a major problem in front on my building and a long walk to your apartment will be necessary any time past 6pm. Reserving a covered parking spot will cost you at least $30 and a detached garage will be over $100.
Management can be very fickle, unreliable and rude at times but are overall fairly helpful. A nice addition to Archstone is their website were you can pay your rent and call in work orders (which in most cases a prompt), though I??m sure many apartment complexes have a website.
Overall Archstone Dakota Ridge is nothing special, I recently moved out because they raised my rent by $40 a month and a 650 square foot 1 bed 1 bath was far to cramped even for one person, I also wanted a better location. I would reluctantly recommend Archstone Dakota Ridge to others but would urge people to compare Archstone to other close apartments that may (and probably are)better.
